http://www.fastlanedaily.com/page/panamera1/ Friend at work sent me this link to a spy shot... Personal opinion is that while it saddens me to think that Porsche is expanding in this market, I think that due to the lack of 100k+ sedan options - this will be well received by the public. Looking forward to the 928 replacement too.
Karims pics are better, not as in a better looking car, but as in you can see more. http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=164774
Why does it seem like Porsche is trying to become the new Mercedes. It seems liek they are trying to build something for everyone. I hope it doesn't dillute the brand as has happened to quite a few automakers recently.
I think (hope) it's going to fail. This is just so ugly - that's got to be the fattest butt out there. They had such a chance to make a sporty sedan and they COULD make it beautiful at the same time (see Aston Rapide)... but no - they design this pig. Ugh.
Got to be one of the saddest new Porsche cars ever, a disgrace to the marque, If the 928 replacement is going along the same styling route I dont even want to hear about it. Its an absolute minger Steve
I have to say thats not a very attractive car. Seems like those interested in upmarket sedans have a lot of ugly cars to choose from... all the BMWs are hideous, the new MB's arent much to look at and now Porsche brings out this crap.
Looks like the green giant stepped on a Cayenne and came up with the Panamera. Not much of stretch though since it seems that 911 came from a Beetle that got stepped on by the same giant decades ago.
while i have to agree that so far, the design looks flawed, i really think we will have to wait for the finished product. performance wise it will drive like a dream for sure....... furthermore, we need to put it in the right context. ie, compare it to the A8, S-class and 7 series. Then it might not look too bad. it surely has nothing of the beauty of the rapide or the Quattroporte........but it will be the better car.......
Doesn't look so bad to me. And to be better than a Quattroporte, you have to be pretty darn good, that is one fantastic car.
I have never seen a disguised car that looked or promised to be attractive. Finished product looks always totally different,so will the Panamera. Especially with AWD,lower weight then any competitive sedan and close to 600hp to boot....
Here's my comparison of the so-called 4-door coupes. From L-R, top to bottom. Row 1: 1. Porsche Panamera: looks funny in the back 2. Porsche Panamera with spoiler: still looks funny 3. Porsche Panamera "fake"? pic: looks decent, but is it a fake? (it looks like a Carrera GT with a Solstice coupe back-end) Row 2: 4. Mercedes-Benz CLS: the pioneer of the pack, looks decent. 5. BMW X6: a misnomer, really... it's not a coupe at all.. their Concept CS looks more like a good fit for this segment Row 3: 6. Aston Martin Rapide: the winner? In my opinion, it looks the best of the bunch! ~shahedc . Image Unavailable, Please Login

A little white package showed up in last nights mail - it brags about what great cars all Porsches are - pictures the new 911, the Boxter, the Cayman, yes - even the Cayenne - and finally...just as you think you are ready to see the real thing; You are treated to one of the most stylized, (almost Pablo Picasso-like) line drawings of the coming Panamera. It is about halfway through the book. Then, you are told "you have been invited to give your input on the Panamera design". The rest of the book is just blank grid-paper (like as if you could draw your ideas there), but you are directed to a website for your comments. BTW, the Panamera blurb says in conclusion that the Panamera, like all Porsches, traces it's lineage all the way back to the 356#001.
Interesting viewpoint, just out of curiosity, do you fit the M5 in the same category? Not sure if it would line up to the other exotic sedans but it seems quite similar to the CLS.
One of my friends in high school did the Boxster and Carrera GT. Grant Larson. Hope he was on sick leave for this project.
I got the same mailing. Basically 4 sketches of the 911/Boxster/Cayman/Cayenne and the stylized Panamera. It can't be as ugly as the green prototype (?) above. I'm actually interested, as I should be in the market for a 4-door in a couple of years.
