    I know this is Ferrari-Chat and not Porsche-Chat, but thought some of you migth enjoy to watch (and listen to!!) this: Saturday night the wife and I were attending the Porsche Soundnigth in Stuttgart/Zuffenhausen in the Porsche museum.

    It would have been funny to bring a Ferrari F355 out at the end and see the expressions on peoples faces.:) It is quite amazing how they all sounded the same except for the 904/8.

    We were visiting the Porsche museum two years ago with our 575M… We were not sure if they let us driving out of the garage with the Ferrari…

    Like taking a Porsche to a Ferrari event? All the upturned Ferrari noses (BTDT)?

    Like the F355 sounds like the other Fcar V8's?

    No not the upturned noses, just hearing a Ferrari F355 and the awesome sound they make. Porsches are known for a lot of things... sound is not one of them unfortunately.:(

    Seriously? Those RSR's from the early-mid 70's are some of the best sounding cars made by anyone, anywhere. The non-turbo 917's also have an amazing sound. Late model GT3's and GT3RS's are incredible sounding road cars. The turbo cars are little flat sounding, but a normally aspirated Flat-6 can sound pretty awe-inspiring when in a high state of tune.

    lol...I cannot begin to tell you how totally wrong you are. lol!!!!!!

    do me a favor...keep your head in the Ferrari clouds in.

    I own both Ferrari and Porsche and can tell you a megaphone or turbo flat 6 is nasty.

    a flat 12 Porsche 917 may be the greatest sounding motor ever to grace the tarmac!!!!

    917s do sound pretty good for a race car. The older cars almost have a distinct signature sound that is the same from model to model as the cars in the movie showed. Here is another video showing that Porsche engines in stock form are not that exciting. The Panamera does sound alright.

    Many people have been put off a marque based on what certain models sound like - uninspiring. So until you've been exposed to them more and heard a wide variety of them in person, perhaps there is little enthusiasm for the brand. I think the trouble is also that recordings on YouTube are often substandard, so its difficult to get a true feel for what any particular car sounds like.

    Speaking of modern Porsches, I can assure you personally that a 997 GT3 RS or a Carrera GT at wide-open throttle both emit some of the most melodious & hair-raising sounds of any sports car extant. And that's with a standard exhaust! Once you've been around them a little bit, I think you'll like what you hear.

    All this talk about sounds.... I might need to go wake my sleeping beauties and blast trough some tunnels. I personally love the air cooled Porsche sound. A Ferrari V12 or flat 12 always sounds amazing and then again so does an AMG Mercedes. Heck, even the sport bikes and Harleys can sound great
