Porsche stuck in wet cement: Proof karma exists?
    ---------------------------------------------------

On Thursday, the driver of a Porsche 911 decided he'd take a shortcut around some construction cones and drove straight into wet concrete near Marina Green on Marina Blvd. in San Francisco.

"It was coned off," according to Bobswire, a user of the Paceline bike forums. "He was just trying to sneak in from a side street. [The] concrete looked solid." Bobswire reports that the hapless driver remained stuck in his car. "He didn't want to open the door and have concrete get in; the whole undercarriage and brakes will need to [be] cleaned or replaced."

Whether the uncured pavement was concrete, asphaltic concrete, or just plain cement is up for debate. What's unquestionable, however, is that this is the best Lightning McQueen impression we've seen since Cars. Check out more photos below, then write your own punchline in the comments section.

Nothing more sad than the replies posted on-line after this article. It is a reflection on society as a whole how people take joy in situations like this. No doubt the driver took liberty's but to have people celebrate the failure BECAUSE the driver is in a car they deem elite is just bad form.

I know - I know - get use to it right?

    Never have, and never will.

That car would almost certainly be totalled, correct? With cement filling everything under the car I would think it would be very expensive to replace parts damaged by the excursion.

And will he be charged for re paving the road? Jackhammering the ruined concrete out, transporting it away, and the cost of another truckload of cement for that stretch of road. Not to mention a day's labor for at least 10 guys.

    Could be an expensive shortcut...

Perhaps: people who drive thru coned off areas deserve what they get?

BTW he needs to hose off the underside of his Pcar before the cement sets up.

Society isn't the problem... what's really sad is thinking you are so important that you can drive through an active worksite.

I hope the driver gets the moving violations/bill for the day lost because of the self important move. What would be extra nice would be insurance not paying out either as this wasn't an "accident".

My guess is that if the car was a camry you'd be posting similar ridicule as the people you take umbrage with.

Poor form is poor form, the way to avoid the "celebration" as you put it would have had the driver simply act with common sense.

    Karma did win that round...

You got me wrong alfy - If it were a Camry I would help the car out of the pit, no different than the Porsche. Then I would tell them how to get it fixed post-haste as I am a car guy. But a hater is gonna hate so you think what you want.

BTW If this were a Camry it would have never made news... THAT speaks volumes on how society is indeed the problem.

Karma wrong or not the guy looks like an idiot how embarrassing.

He was too important to wait in a construction zone like everyone else.

Why does everyone immediately assume the driver thought he was more important than everyone else? "Too important to wait in traffic"

So it was stupid what he did and he shouldn't have cut through the construction zone. For that he got his just desserts, but when did it become a crime to try and avoid traffic? Does that mean people who use gadgets to warn them of traffic are pompous? That logic is so stupid, it is a massive pity. Logic like that leads people to live their lives so bitter about everyone else that they never improve themselves.

I think the implication is that the driver deliberately circumvented traffic cones. If so, I view it as karmic justice, especially since no one was hurt and I suspect his insurance covers everything except increased premiums. I don't equate that to a forgivable error or just trying to avoid traffic.

Now if the guy simply did not see cones or they were not clearly placed so that he legitimately strayed into the wet cement by accident, then it is a case of piling on a guy just because he happens to be in a Porsche.

We can't discern the answer from just the photos.
