I thought the R1 would have smoked the 996. Am I missing something? You always hear how much faster bikes are vs. cars, especially one that's not really set-up for the track. (as opposed to a GT3, GT2 etc.)

Well, there was that one bike mag with a GSX-R 1000 vs. Z06 article.........and it wasn't pretty for the Z06.

Alright, I gotta comment even though I'll probably get shot down for doing it. I think this "test" is inaccurate at best. The rider on the R1 wasn't even getting his knee down through a lot of the turns, like through the chicane. Anyone that has watched MotoGP, World Superbike, or AMA races knows that those racers get their knees, and in some cases their elbows, down on the ground a lot. Also, it's really unfair to run a bike and a car on the same track at the same time. If the car gets in front of the bike, the bike would have trouble getting in front of the car for fear of getting run over. Run them on the same track, just not at the same time, to see what the real lap times would be.

Yeah, read that article, have it here somewhere. The Z06 got beat up on that one. The author said they chose the Z06 becaue of price and reliability. Some might argue that Schwantz is a better bike racer than car racer. I did like the fact that the bike went from 0-100-0 faster than the car took to hit 100. Probably one of the best bike vs. car articles out there.

There was an article in Evo, I think, that had a couple of GSXR 1000s, one that was Rizla prepped, along with an M3, Lambo Murcie, and a Radical. Saw it here somewhere. Really good article.

It all really depends on what type of track you are one. If you did this on a big oval track, there isn't a stock bike that could keep up with any of the 190+ stock supercars out there.

Man, another mistake, I need to get some sleep. It was not a Rizla GSXR 1000, but a Cresent GSXR. Okay, enough from me, going to sleep.

bikers should shut up anyway.... nothing more than high speed pedestrians... there are 2 kinds of bikers.. those who have gone down and those who will go down..the though of 150mph on the bike is beyond comprehension...as a trauma surgeon, i have treated way too many motorcycle accident victims.... ride a bicycle, its more safe and you get a great workout also..remember, there are no airbags and crumple zones on bikes....and just a spot of gravel or a car driver not paying attention..........

That is an awesome video!!! The biker road to his comfortable limit given the car on the track, which is the same as it would be on the road. You have to pay attention to the other people/cars around. So in the realworld the car is faster around the circuit.

Gotta go show it to one of my buddies who thinks superbikes are faster than F1 cars hahahaha anyone have a video of that race?

scycle2020, What you say makes sense, but the fact is that driving a vehicle in control at 150 mph is far safer and less scary than having lack of control at lesser speeds (Without question, I'll ride my bikes at 150 or more mph rather than ride a coaster wagon down a steep, paved road.).

Honestly, I am so tired of Japanese bikes being aggressive with cars on the road. They come up on you ,and then do that STUPID pose with the hand on the seat as they rev their motor at you. Its like you have to pass the same mandatory ****** class that the Mustang owners go to, to ride a bike. I normally ask them what they have in mind, and laugh at them. They then pop a wheelie and move on down the road. ITS A 2 WHEEL BIKE!! Why do they try to show the macho stuff to a 4 wheel car? I dont get it. Never did. I have run a few on top end runs, and dusted them all. It takes a lot of brass to run a bike into the 200's. And obviously the twisties are out of the question, unless they have a death wish. Bikes and cars are totally different, just wish most of the bike guys would get the message. I dont go out hunting bikes, why do the bikers do that crap? END OF RANT.

the four wheels beating the two wheels should be no surprise. back a few years ago when i was racing wera and ccs we used to race at the old road atlanta whith the famous "dip".

my fastest times there on my 750 superbike were 1:28 and 29's. save sadowski and collin edwards had the fastest motorcycle times on formula usa and world superbike respectively...both in the 1:19 and 20 range.

the car track record was w/ the nissan gtp driven by geoff brabham...just a few ticks over 1:00!!

street or race, four wheels always beats two.

AAAAAAAAAAAAmen, and thank you. I am biased though, I ride my bicycle up in the mountains and have plenty of bones to pick. I did see one of these guys meet head on with a Dodge truck about a month ago, bike did not do so good when it crossed the yellow line trying to "apex" the fuc)(&%# ing corner on a damn mountain road. Save it for the track fellas, is it really worth it to loose your life?

That is so staged. The bike guy wasn't even trying. I hate that BS. You can't pretend you're going fast until your bike is sliding around. That R1 was firmly planted in every curve ... whatever. Now if the car has serious downforce ... now that would be interesting.

Can't believe how many haters bikers have, when they're not even bugging anyone. LMAO

But thats the point Julien, they are looking for trouble. Where have you been? I cant go for a ride in my Vipers or Lambo's or any performance car without a Japanese bike type looking for a run!! Ever. Fact, not fiction. All I get from the Harley guys is "thumbs up".

Uhm ... ok. I dunno, but looking for a run isn't looking for trouble to my eyes. I'd be honored that a crotch rocket rider thinks your car is a match for his bike.

No flame intended. I just really get tired of it. Every day, they dont let up. I like anything that goes fast, I have had race bikes. I just never looked for action on the street with cars. Its a different animal all together.

Hey 6.0, sorry you've had some bad run-in's with sportbikes. But please don't lump all of us in the same pile. Not all sportbike riders are out doing stunts, cutting corners, or generally endangering the lives of themselves or others. Some of us just love to ride, and choose to do it on bikes that closely resemble those that are raced by the pros. However, a lot of bike owners are young/imature, and since most sportbikes can be purchased for less than 10k, they probably feel they have to hunt down exotic cars to prove some sort of point. Sorry that they do that to you.

FerrariPete, you have to remember that the Nissan GTP you mentioned was a full race car which no bike could compete with. Bikes have no downforce what so ever, smaller contact patches, smaller brakes, less aerodynamics etc. MotoGP bikes are scary fast with over 240hp, but they are absolutely no match for F1 cars. On the track with full race spec machines, cars beat bikes every time. On the street, a completely different story.
