Quick question, are there any covered grand stands or other areas at PIR?
Grandstands are not covered. At the Indycar races in the old days, they did have some covered "luxury suites" but they aren't a permanent feature. There are places you can go to get some shade, however.
Pretty fun weekend and a good first time at PIR. The track itself is interesting and I like that it's a bit short. Facilities were a bit, ahem, lacking. According to Sportscar365. the track had a one year deal with PWC, so this could be a one and done.
