CMF warning. " Control Module Failure" "Limited Performance See Dealer"

Dealer says muffler dampers are electronically controlled rather than vacuum controlled. 3rd software malfunction they've seen on Portofino The car's been down for 2 weeks while Ferrari required mufflers to be sent back to New Jersey for software re-program, since dealers haven't been sent software fix as yet.

Wondering, if anyone has had a similar experience?????

The mufflers aren't programmable. The dealer must have sent the ECU or some other module that controls the muffler valves. I have a Capristo controller that lets me keep the muffler valves open after startup. Next week I will have Tubi mufflers that use the factory control system.

Apparently in the Portofino, an electronic servo controls the dampers which communicate with the controller. while they are programmable, only Italy and fortunately now, New Jersey Tech support has the software. Guess Ferrari wants to keep the software from the dealers. So in my case, the mufflers were removed, air freighted next day to New Jersey, re-programmed there, are freighted next day back and reinstalled here in San Diego at the dealer. I figure the entire warranty probably cost over a grand and kept the car down for two weeks, while a simple download could have been performed without removing anything in less than an hour. Go figure??? The dealer told me this is the third Portofino that exhibited the problem. Mufflers on the previous two had to be sent to Italy.

I have my stock mufflers in my garage. The computer-controlled servos that work the valves unbolt and are used on aftermarket mufflers. I don't know why the complete mufflers would have to be shipped, but as long as I am not the one paying...
