^ I'm biased, and likely in the minority, but I still prefer the hood scoop on the NA Cali versus the nostrils on the T/Porto. Image Unavailable, Please Login T
It's funny you should say that. I was just thinking to myself, "why do I like the Porto so much?" And I realized that it's because it's basically a convertible 599, a car which I was infatuated with for years. I always thought, man, it sucks that they make the v12 Spyders so exclusive. But looking at the Portofino, it's got very similar lines to the 599, similar horsepower and performance numbers, and overall GT Bona Fides. Whereas I didn't care for the F12 or 812 because they are too track focused and their bodies over styled to appease their wind tunnel demands. The 599 is the last true 12 cylinder Grand Tourer that's meant for the actual road. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Oh that is beautiful! Wish they would do that again! Regarding the Portofino following the lines of the 599, I don’t see that at all. Always seemed to me that the Cali took design cues from the 599. The Cali-T took cues from the F12 and the Portofino takes cues from the 812. At least to my eyes that is how it has always seemed to me. Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat.com mobile app
I meant the overall package, not just the design elements. Size, performance, weight and Grand Tourer mission. The newer GT-12 cars are very specifically aimed at the track, whereas the 599 was designed for the road. On this level, I think it and the Portofino are similar. As far as specific design cues (headlights, hood vents, grill, etc), yes, absolutely. The Portofino closer to the GTC4Lusso and F12 than the 599.

I could make a comment here about how the "cheap" GT Ferrari is better looking and more practical than the much more expensive 812. But since that commentary already got me kicked out of the Clarkson thread in the F12/812 forum, I won't make such a statement. So this is me, totally not saying that.

Thanks for the info. I´ll definitely ask my dealer to try to still change my spec. Finally a wheel which fits the looks of Portofino.
Taste is taste and it is not a zero sum game. I have the 812 and Portofino both on order. Love them both for different reasons. Not to mention the 488 and GTC4 Lusso. Let’s just enjoy being enthusiastic without going down that road. John Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat.com mobile app
