My Portofino has been delivered! Unfortunately, I'm 1700 miles away and won't see if for another few weeks.

For purposes of mounting a radar detector, can someone shoot me a picture of the rear view mirror hardware that mounts it to the front windshield? Need to know if there is enough stem to use a rear view mirror mount.

    Thanks.

    Look at blendmount.com and invisicord.com.

I didn't want the sun visors,so I used an Escort visor clip and an Invisicord to mount the detector where the inboard passenger sun visor clip goes. The result is super-clean,but I doubt that others would want to do it that way.

Blendmount says the mirror is incompatible with their product. I ordered a mount for an Audi from a vendor on Etsy. I'll bring it when I pick up the Portofino to see if that one might be compatible. Otherwise it looks like a windshield suction mount will have to suffice. Not willing to get rid of the sun visors.

I have a 2019 Portofino, and Blend Mount's BMG-2034 is supposed to fit my mirror for an Escort Redline.

I just changed the base mirror in my 2019 Portofino for one with Homelink, was going to write it up on here eventually......
In the meantime here are some pictures. The plastic cover with the slots at the back slides onto the mirror arm by friction fit. The mirror arm itself attaches to the silver hexagon stud glued to the windshield. Getting it off was easy, just put a flat blade screwdriver between the mirror mount and the base of the arm and twist.
Took me a while and google to figure how to put it back on! Hold the base of the mirror arm up to the stud and then rotate it at a 45 degree angle to the right until you feel it settle down on the stud and then rotate it back to the left and it will lock in. The silver plate with all the arms attached to the windshield below the mirror mounting stud is a camera so be careful not to move it or unplug it as I suspect that it would need to be recalibrated at the dealer if you do $$$$.
I suspect that they are right about a Blend Mount not fitting as the mounting arm is short and very tight to the window.

Thanks so much for the super helpful pictures. It does appear that the stub between the mount and mirror is going to be too short to work with that type of mount. The purpose of the mount is to try to avoid the suction mount (which works surprisingly well) as I'm planning on putting a heat-rejecting film on the windshield and I can't imagine that having a sticky suction cup mount on it will leave the film unscathed.

What brand of suction mount are you planning on using?

The one that came with the Uniden R7 is actually quite effective.

In this pic, there are a bunch of ventilation holes in the (plastic?) cover piece that lies against the windshield.

If you recall, is there some space between the "bottom" (horizontal surface closes to the floor) and whatever it is covering? Thinking perhaps a threaded stud attached there might serve as a mounting surface. Is that plastic piece just a friction fit? If so, might not be sturdy enough to support a radar detector. Also, do you happen to know if the electrical connectors up there are switched with the ignition for a power tap for the detector?

Ok, here are a few more pictures for you. The inside of the plastic cover, yes it is a friction fit to the short aluminum arm on the mirror. You can see the little bumpers at the narrow end to keep it from rattling on the windshield, perhaps a judicious use of some double sided tape? A picture of the camera mounted to the windshield with the wiring plug connected to it. A picture of the plug on the mirror itself, which exactly the same as the non homelink mirror, all I did was unplug one and connect the other and everything worked. A picture of the dome light / switch panel showing how it mounts. To remove it just pry down between the trim ring and header panel at the front edge ( the edge farthest from the windshield). It is held in by a couple of spring clips at the front edge and a molded u shape clip at the back edge so when you get the front down pull forward on the assembly. I did not check any of the wiring as all I had to do was unplug the wire from the one mirror and reconnect to the same plug from the other mirror. There more wires in there going to the dome lights, no idea if they are switched or not.

    Super helpful (again)!

At least it looks like there is plenty of space (air) between the bottom (towards the floor) of the plastic cover and the electronics (camera you said?) attached to the windshield. Just have to decide if the friction fit is sturdy enough to hang a (pretty lightweight) Uniden R7. But it also seems to me that there must be a way to somehow use that metal arm of the mirror assembly as a mounting point......
