I'm putting my old head on the block again with a comment regarding the Cargolux 747 landing gear failure. I'm going back to 1967-68 and seem to remember that if the tilt position actuator failed it would prevent the LG to retract. On landing, the truck beam lacked the snubbing action of the position actuator and the forward set of wheels was allowed to bounce up and down hard enough to let the truck beam hit the crossover of the forks and crack, causing it to break, losing the forward set of wheels. Interested to see how close I might come .
