I would "place" it in the cop's arse that told you to put one on your car. Seems like an appropriate place for it.

DO NOT place the plate in front of the grill in any way. The lost airflow is significant and will cause temperature problems.

Mine is flat against the body, i.e., facing down toward the ground about 30 degrees. Doesn't block the rad, no rattles, so far no cop complaints.

Mines in the trunk. I went to a Ferrari get together after only owning mine for a month or so. My car was the only one there WITH a front plate. I would have taken it off there if no one would have noticed. But it did come off as soon as I got home. Looks much better IMO.

I simply made up a bracket out of a piece of scrap aluminum angle and bolted it to the driver's side of the grille, so to avoid the blockage of any air flow into the radiator opening by the plate.

No photos at the moment to show, but it's really pretty simple. Just go to the local Home Improvement store and buy a piece of aluminum angle.

    ria,

I understand the law, it is the same here in california. I think it is a question of enforcement.

If i were stopped and questioned about it, i would pull out the owners manual, that clearly advises against,"...placing anything in front of the grill, so as to block the airflow..." or words to that effect.

Be nice, smile, and produce the "front" plate from under the drivers seat and tell him where to shove this $%#@ing plate; well, on second thought, just tell him that you weren't sure if it would harm the car to do what the owners manual said - and what would he advise???

This gambit is only good with the same cop once, so if you live in a small jurisdiction, you may have to hang the ugly thing on the front of your beautiful car.

I personally have never been questioned about it, but i think that a lot of cops are just looking to bust fast cars - Maybe the smart ploy is to just hang the g*d da*n thing on the front but i wouldn't do it untill i had burned the above mentioned ploy.

    with malice aforethought,
    chris

I have one on the front. Illinois cops outside of Chicago do write tickets for such infractions. There's a pending bill in our legislature to allow a single rear plate by paying an extra fee. I just consider it a necessary evil and don't worry about it...

RIE it is below the spoiler but above the black raditor belly pan.
If you can't buy the bracke then just make one out of alum. A guy I know in NY got a ticket for no front plate on his vette and it cost him $100. He didn't put a plate back on and he got tagged again. 2nd time cost him $500 and he had to show the court that the front plate was mounted. Take a chance if you want to.
