so i've been wanting to bid on this pool cue for a few days now:
    http://cgi.ebay.com/James-White-Custom-Cue_W0QQitemZ290005935865QQihZ019QQcategoryZ21212QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

at it's current bid of $1009, it's about $1500 below market value. it is a private auction (bidders hidden). all previous auctions were also private. money order only. hmmm... suspicious

i looked at his feedback, 12 positive... but if you look closer... all the members have given each other positive feedback. i googled his name and found he left a positive feedback to this member:

notice this clown made about $3000 with that account. wow

    of course feedback means nothing.

a lot of people build 100% positive feedback
for as long as 3 years by selling $0.99- 1 junks
so that they can scam huge $ at the end.
    fun and easy.
sucks for stupid naive people who think the feeback is the proof.

Feedback isnt 100% trustworthy but is still a good indicator to base things on. I am on ebay junkie but for small things only. Larger things maybe once in a while, but I'm very careful about purchases.
If it looks like a scam, just pass on it, simple. Its not worth your money and if you really want it, buy it from the retailer or direct.

Low feedback, even if positive, and private auction are tip-offs to be cautious.

Look for sellers with more feedback. You can also check what they sell. Some ebayers sell each other $0.01 items back and forth to build feedback.

In addition to feedback and looking at what the sellers previously sold, I also send emails asking for additional clarification. Many times I will use the response from to sort out if the deal is legit. With over 500 transactions I’ve only been scammed one time, which is a pretty good result or just very lucky.
