I think you posted the wrong URL.

Regarding the Melbourne GP: Not really Bernie's fault. The organizers made a mess out of the event promotions wise and have been making bigger losses every year. Not surprised if they loose the event. Gee, this reminds me of another race...

Just give it back to Adelaide please ... Melbourne sncked from day one and always will, wrong venue and wrong state with wrong attitude (just like a race in NSW would be completely fncked before it had a chance).

I don't know much about Australia, but once bumped into a woman from Adelaide. I wanted to compliment her on the Grand Prix and she was totally turned off by that: Turns out she was a tree hugger. Allegedly they got a bunch of those in Adelaide and that's one reason why Adelaide no longer has it. Any Aussies care to comment?

Hmmm, but they still race cars there so I don't think that was the reason.

Australian states are always fighting against each other to big note their state, think Olympics, etc. Victorian Premier (Melbourne is Victoria's capital) at the time had a hard-on for making his mark on Australia and the world and thus stole the race from Adelaide ... but he never really wanted it for the right reasons. It would be just as bad if the New South Wales (where I live) Premier decided to use the GP to promote himself and NSW, because NSW basically do not support motorsport at all. They did build Eastern Creek, but they closed down my favourite little track (Amaroo) not long after I arrived here for more houses and soon Oran park will be lost (an awesome track).

South Australia (where Adelaide is) and Tasmania is where it happens in Australia for motorsport!, as far as this New Zealander living here can tell.
