Hey guys I have been on the hunt for a 308gt4 but the stuff I’m looking at in my price range are fairly nice drivers and hard to come by. I made the “mistake” of watching some you tube videos on Mondial T’s. I’m sold! it looks like I can get a super nice Mondial t for same money as a semi nice gt4 and have a more powerful and more modern car. So at the moment I’m now in the hunt for a nice T.
I do not know much about these cars at all. I’m a huge Porsche guy but it’s time for me to finally venture into Ferrari territory. I do most of my own maintenance, have removed 911 engines and rebuilt a 968. Etc etc.
Can you tell me if this car at around $61000 US would be reasonable?
What would I need to look out for on a car with such low mileage.?
Anyone shipped a car to the US? I have shipped 1 over seas once but never here.
What can I expect to find in the low 60s? I’m hoping for something other than red but have not banned red as it is gorgeous on these cars.

Buy from the US. At $60K, you should be able to get the cream puff from the US market.

There aren’t many T’s here for sale so I don’t know really what The market is like in the US.
Do you think I could get one like the silver car with low mileage for a similar price here?

"T" coupes don't come up much in the US, especially with low miles. I had a 86 Coupe, was one of the best cars I've ever had, put 40,000 miles on it, not much maintenance cost other than oil changes and 2 belt changes (without taking the engine out.). I would say be patient and only buy one with good records... these cars are easy for people to mess with the odometers so if the records aren't there it might be higher mileage than it shows. I looked for a "T" coupe for about a year and gave up and bought a 89 "T" cabriolet with 20,000 miles.

I agree, your budget price of $60,000 is high and you should be able to get any T for that price. T's should be between 40 and 45k. Your budget isnt the thing holding you up.... it's the timing. It takes a very long time to find the right car. I spent over 2 years looking for mine. You need to be patient, these cars do not surface very often....especially a coupe.

With respect to you doing maintenance, have you considered going to a one generation older 3.2 Mondial. 1985 - 1988 model. You would not have to drop the engine to do the timing belt change. I know its older and not as refined, less horsepower but dropping the engine....ouch.

Have you given any thought to buying a 360 coupe. Your price budget is almost there. You would have the same engine dropping issue but you would have a younger better performing car.

    Just food for thought.

I can go and have a look, if you which , its about 4 miles of where I live.
They have a good reputation they only sell the top stuff.
    Seems Original a Swiss car.

Maintenance has been done by an independent specialist as far as I can make out of the documents .
Belts done 7000 km ago but they do not mention the replacement date on their website.

NA spec coupes are very rare. Ony 41 (or maybe 43) Mondial t coupes were sold in North America.

I’m pretty much sold on the T only. I don’t care to own a 360 now, almost bought one a few years ago but got a 997 turbo instead.
I want to be able to go for a ride with wife and kids. I’ve always liked 4 seat Ferrari’s.

I read that as well but wasn’t sure if that was for just one model year or for all T production.

It is 43 t coupes. There is a letter floating around here from Ferrari to a prior owner establishing the number. I believe it was 1 for every U.S. dealership in 1989.

    Regards,
    Jerry

If you have trouble locating a t coupe, you should consider a 3.2, QV or even 8 coupe.

    All are fantastic cars.

I have an 85 QV Coupe. Love it. Fun to drive, easy to maintain. I've had it for over 3 years now, and still love every minute of ownership.

Just my understanding from reading here (f-chat Mondial section): 43 t coupes, one to each North American dealership. Only came to the US in coupe form for one year (1989).

    Sorry Jerry,

Just noticed now that you answered the question re t coupes numbers with the exact same info I did. Never want to “counter” one of the “1 of 43s”!! And not red either!! Bravo!!

JLF: The pic of the silver Mondi is identical to my 3.2 '87 model and I love it. It is a head turner and has all the power I need to get into trouble. For the amount of gold in your budget, there is a cherry cream puff out there somewhere. Just hang tight and continue your research.

    Thank you Randle.
Unfortunately I don’t think I can move on the silver one because I think it needs to be 25 years old to get it into the states without a huge hassle on emissions and stuff. That car needs another year or so.
