So missed out on the 430 through Covid as prices had skyrocketed on me but now seem to be back down to a doable level. Where is a good place to look for a 430? Things to look for and can I expect to buy a decent car for the 95-115k range? Prefer convertible with somewhat low miles 15-25k mile range. 3 years ago was no problem but now seeing prices falling again. Thoughts advice. Leads? North east PA. Appreciate the help
Buy a Calif car.....anything east of the rockies...they have had a harder life. Good luck with the search. HTH
I haven’t seen a spider for much less than 130 even recently unless it’s an early model with missing service records or some type of accident/body repair on record. of course there’s always a deal that pops up, especially if it doesn’t have to be red or you don’t mind shipping from out of state.
Hi! To share my recent experience I spent over 6 months searching diligently. Sure you can find 25K-ish for about $115 for decent but then again, it'll only going to be decent. Service records will be minimal, and paint will need work and so will the interior. Anything south of $110 is really high mileage or probably has lots of hidden work needed. The amount of work and time you'll put in for decent I would imagine is the same as buying something solid for $130+ Sure prices have softened but the value of the $ is no longer the same as pre-covid. Some like to start out lower and do the work themself for a reduced cost and others rather pay a little more for less work needed to just enjoy it. Everyone is different but I'd say pick out your spec first, narrow it down and search based on that. Good luck!
Definitely has to be the right one and being a third car I am in no rush. I do think values are coming down still. eBay shows ridiculous prices like always and bat seems to be realistic and I think yes currently 120-130k should justify a well kept lower Mileage example. but think will see prices back to the low 100k. all cars are coming down
I think you can find a nice car for 115K, or maybe a little less. Recommend place condition, service and CARFAX history, as well as PPI results above mileage. I’ve seen some 25K mile 430s in much better condition than some 15K mile examples. These are 14-18 year old cars so I think it’s going to be challenging to find a “perfect” 430. There’s a lot of help in this community though for those issues that do come up. Good luck with your search!
Don’t forget to set aside some money for services that will likely need doing once you get it. I’ve yet to buy a car that didn’t need something the previous owner was putting off. Even though my F430 had meticulous dealer service records for every year, I ended up needing a new ac compressor and valve cover gaskets after my ppi was done. Oh, and be sure to have a plan to address the common issues that these cars might have if they haven’t been sorted already. Mainly the header cracking issue and sticky interior surfaces.
I think in the states we had the lockdown final spike in 2022 and it’s just normalized down a little to 2021 levels. I don’t think here they will ever be below the pre-pandemic prices again and will slowly rise over time now that the 430 has passed the depreciation phase. Just like every Ferrari has done historically once it reached a certain age. The rate of rise directly related to how desirable the car is (ie color combo, transmission type,…). Best example is the 456 with manual vs automatic transmission. The slush box automatic isn’t very desirable vs a manual but the car is still appreciating as a reasonable rate after a massive depreciation for the 1st decade from new. definitely Prepared for some things. Guess like all cars people put off things or know something is wrong when selling.
