Anyone know this Ferrari? VIN ZFFYU51A830131582 2003 Ferrari 360 Modena Modena Coupe For Sale In Maryville TN - WEST END AUTO SALES I spoke with dealer for a bit yesterday sounds like a great car, however caution is the word of the day. Wondering if any FChatters know the car or the dealership? To Mod: Should or Can I post in TN section as well? Thank you
I spoke with him a couple months ago....maintenance is due and he didn't have any maintenance records as I recall
Hmmmm. I thought I heard him say he has owned car for 7 years and had all service records. I may have not heard him correctly. I know I was looking at another car in TN a few months backs and he had none. You sure this is same car? Makes me get nervous real quick if seller is telling different stories. He said he woud have it serviced by Ferrari of Atlanta.
Yep, same car....he does have the service records, but he did say the service is due. This was in mid-October and they were asking $84k at the time....I've pretty much had my eye on every 6 speed manual 360 in the country since October
Me too. Hahaha. It must need it major? It was priced at 81,000 the last few weeks, including yesterday. Noticed it jumped back to 84k over night. What steered you clear of it? I only spoke with him for about 15 minutes. Planned on a follow with a few more questions.
Nothing really steered me clear of it...definitely worth checking it out. I was supposed to be deployed 6 more months, and since that has changed to next month, I have to put my Ferrari/Gallardo dream to the side until I get done buying a house, relocating, and all that jazz... If it were me, i would offer $75 out the door and settle for $78k
Good luck on deployment. Thanks for some insight and I'll keep you posted if anything else comes up. If anyone else knows anything about this car feel free to tell me.
Might be a good idea to post in the Tn. section to check on the dealer. Google is also good. It looks very nice and seems priced in the ballpark for an 03 360 MT. Go drive it, if you like it try to get a PPI done and then start negotiating from that point. Too many variable to put a price on it from a dozen pictures. Full service, tires, engine and trans bushings, motor mounts, clutch, brakes, CEL, missing keys or FOBs plus many other issues can take you over 10k for the service. There are a few inspection check lists in the 360/430 section that you can print out to make sure you cover the basic 360 issues. Good luck with the purchase!!! Dave
If the dealer says he is going to "get the major done", make SURE that is wrote up in contract. And you should talk to Ferrari of Atlanta, to see just how "deep'' they go on a major service, and of course, while "their in there", if they find other issues, who pays for those additional, unexpected repairs?
Dave I have a printed copy of those checks lists. So handy! I called the dealer again yesterday to ask a few more questions. I asked to speak to ____ and they said he doesn't work here? I said, well I spoke with him yesterday about the car, that is strange. The dealer said, oh thats the owner, we gave him your email with your phone number. I was like ok, they said he's just a friend and they are listing the car for him. Ironically in my email I had asked how the car dealership, came into possesion of the Ferrrari, as nothing else on their site indicated they sold hig-end cars. When I was speaking with the car owner he said he'll get me in touch with the mechanic at FOA to speak about the car. As far as I can tell, the owner is being very forthcoming and open. It being Christmas time, plus I am going out of country for two weeks makes it just a touch hard to get the ball rolling too fast. When I speak with FOA I'll be sure to see what the major contains. Heck, they'll be the ones doing the PPI, so if it passes muster. Might as well go ahead and do the major right there! Hopefully this works out and I'll join the club!
The folks at FOA are straight shooters and I have nothing but good experiences with them. My 360 is going in on 1/6/14 for its annual service. Hopefully this deal works out for you. Post up some pics if you buy the car.
I would stay away from any scenario that involves someone else paying for the major service before you pick up / purchase the car.. Negotiate the price as is and get the service done on your own dime this way you know exactly what was done and by who you want. Its a recipe for disaster.. I actually would prefer to have a car that is in need of service.. this way its done by my mechanic and I could rest easy. No one is saying that the dealer is not a straight shooter.. your car, your money, & your mechanic... vs. your car, somone elses money, someone elses mechanic.. R
Records Are sparse. Seems like the car hasn't been serviced since 2007 at 5700 miles. Time to search elsewhere. It looks like a great car, but with out some more proof it's had a few more oil changes, I'm gonna have to walk.
Shawn, if you are passing on that car maybe let everybody here know what you are looking for regarding colors, trans, year and any other must haves and maybe someone has or knows of a car that will meet your needs.
Black on black with manual. The only thing I'm flexible on is the interior. Tan, black, gray. I'd consider a 575 too. It's a marathon not a sprint, heck if it takes a year, I'll be in position for 430 as well. Just getting impatient to own. However I will not make irrational decision. Being my first ferrari, 1. I plan on keeping it and driving it often. 2. Must be manual. I want to experience the connection. After my first, maybe in 6-7 years I'll buy my second. Either a more modern with paddle shift or shoot for older like 512tr or 308. However I need to get my first! Thanks for everyone's help.

Never got to the test drive step. If everything else had been on order, I would still have to wait as I'm going out of country for vacation next week for a few weeks.
This one is back on the market. I wonder why. 2003 Ferrari 360 Modena , $86,500 - Cars.com Now up to 10 (!) prior owners. Odd, isn't it?
It certainly ticked off most all of the checkboxes on my list and even though I'm not really ready to buy now, the right car could change my mind But picking up something with 10 prior owners and then the comments in this thread on top of that...seems risky. And no, I'm not trying to scare off other buyers so if someone does check this car out and/or buy it I'd love to hear what the assessment is.
10 Owners doesn't bother me. I think my car had 8. It's a very nice car! It just means that its priced a bit high for what it is. The only question I would have is what does the car look like now? With 8 owners (per carfax I presume?) chances are 1 of those 8 said "I won't buy this car unless all the campaigns are done!". In addition, with 21k miles.. the 10 didn't drive it much did they? Looks like last owner or 2 had it for last 7-8 years. alot of churn in the first 5 years of its life. The only thing that would concern me about the car is I would (personal taste) have to undo the pimpin' stereo system and the amp in the front trunk.
