Neither does the rest of your post Frank, I seem to recall Alonso challenging for the lead in the race at one point, how far off the pace was the Ferrari at that point ? Pardon me Frank, I'll go ahead and hope for the Scuderia to post up some wins, despite your buzzkill post, cheers....
Personally I don't care what you do so long as you don't post information in the title of the thread. Granted I rarely touch this forum until after I've seen the results of qualifying or the race.
SEVERAL drivers were challenging for the lead of the race at one point... Can't we all just savor being on the podium for the first time in a month? Yesterday was like a ray of sunshine after a month of gloom... As far as the stats...that's what the stopwatch says...it is what it is...unfortunately for us... Frank
That's what I was doing, then you came along saying that barring a miracle Ferrari won't win. I would call that extremely pessimistic considering that Alonso was in the fight for the win yesterday. It won't be a miracle if the Scuderia take pole position and win the next race, the car is obviously coming along well.
Looking back at my post, I can see where you're coming from. I should have explained myself better. I can see Ferrari winning races, but I don't see them dominating the rest of the season. I thought I had qualified that by implying that they could win up to several races. I still consider it to be highly unlikely for them to win the MAJORITY of the remaining races and I believe you would agree with that assessment. THAT was the point I was trying to make... At no time did I say that it would be a miracle for them to win ANY races, I just find that with the competitiveness of the Red Bull and McLaren packages it is unlikely for them to win more than several races. Ferrari, Red Bull, and McLaren have divided the spoils and I look for that trend to continue... Frank
Your poll needs a third category called Bet's Off. If the Korean GP gets cancelled there won't be 13 races. Have you made provisions for this possibility?
Nope... but I basically bet 4 wins by 1 driver for the rest of the season, starting in turkey. if a race gets cancelled,... reduces my odds. if WW3 breaks out and the season gets cancelled, bad for me. the more interesting debate would be a 1/2 points win...
Short version: "That's the rules". Fortunately, most people obey said rules, and life is good. Ignore at your peril....... We do *exactly* that already! - Just put "spoiler" in the title, and you're good. [Although, there have been some good ones.... "SPOILER - LH wins XX" doesn't work too well ] Cheers, Ian PS - This is much more than an F1 board is another reason.
The reason is, that a F1 thread can "bleed through" to the main page of FChat if somebody has the F1 forum on subscription and that particular thread is the at the top. In that case you'd see who won the race even if you wouldn't go into the F1 forum. Regarding this or any older thread, one could infer some results by it being suddenly bumped or somebody could open it and stumble upon parts of the race results as it has no SPOILER alert in the title. Such are the rules. I didn't write them.
Without giving away results, your money remains in the bank. I'll stake my reputation on it......wish I had been in on the bet....
Simon, check the fine print on your bet. If Webber, Vettel, and Hamilton each with three of the remaining races, you would be right three times and could win $1500!
Well as it stands so far: Hami - 2 wins Vettel - 1 win Webber -1 win The good news for me is it really seems there are only 4 cars fighting for the win. 9 races to go... I'm likeing my odds.
I still think you are well above 50/50... 9 to go... MW or SV getting 3 still looks really good. The Red Bulls are nearly a second faster than anything else. Look at it this way... if WB and SV each only get 2 wins ... others must get 5. Against 2 cars which are much faster... I still think unlikely. That said,... I like having Hami in the mix. For me,... in order for WB and SV to each only get 2 or less, Hami essentially must get 2 (or more) wins.
Hmmm... Today's result pretty clearly doesn't help me... Hami - 2 wins Vettel - 1 win Webber -1 win Alonso - 1 win No good news for me as is it now seems there are 6 cars legitimately fighting for the win. For the first time I think my odds may be under 50/50... [/QUOTE]
With 7 races to go, Webber and Hamilton both have 2 wins. It could happen. I wouldn't put it past Vettel to win 3 more. Alonso, not so much. Hami - 2 wins Vettel - 1 win Webber -2 wins Alonso - 1 win
Wow... Now it stands... Hami - 3 wins Vettel - 1 win Webber -2 wins Alonso - 1 win When I made the bet I felt Vettel was my sure thing... go figure. Obviously I'm feeling pretty good.
After Monza Hami - 3 wins Vettel - 1 win Webber -2 wins Alonso - 2 wins Well, with 5 to go (hopefully!)... my original "sure thing" (Vettel) seems unlikely.
I'm hoping Mack the Knife grabs the WDC but I'd feel confident McHam will bag another K before the season is done. I'm not anticipating more victories for Lonnie or Jenny (let alone anyone else) . Your odds look solid.
After Singapore... Hami - 3 wins Alonso - 3 wins Webber -2 wins Vettel - 1 win Well, with 4 to go... really only 3 with any chance. But I'm feeling good. seems pretty likely alonso or hami will get another win. Button is clearly relegated to second banana now...
After Japan... Hami - 3 wins Alonso - 3 wins Webber -2 wins Vettel - 2 win Talk about parity! For mfg's... Red Bull 4. McLaren 3. Ferrari 3. At this point, I really hope Korea doesn't get cancelled!
