Hello - My family will be traveling in Europe from early June until early July. We are considering catching the GP race in Valencia the weekend of June 23-24. Can anyone recommend hotels, best place to sit, etc? I've not been to Valencia before, and while I know it isn't one of the favored tracks to visit, it's the only one we'll be near this summer.

It'll be me, my wife and our 2 kids - ages 9 and 11. My kids have not been to an F1 race before, but they see plenty on Speed channel with me!

    Thanks in advance!

I've been there for the race and it was pretty miserable:

Insanely hot and lots of fences. Therefore I suggest a covered grandstand as only shade will alleviate the hot temperature a bit. Also the catch fences ruin the view on most of the track.

I had zone Grao and would recommend to definitely avoid that. Also if you can get a seat high up in the stands where there is a little bit of airflow and you can look over the catch fences.

Aside from that the experience is pleasant as the track is right in the harbor and easy to get to (public bus, e.g. the on/off city tours takes you there). Also check out the team/vendor tents outside the track as they offer a lot of goodies and check out the big modern shopping mall near the track: Ferrari had a show car there and an event

Pick a hotel in the old town, which is beautiful and way from the chaos. If you can't find anything, the modern area near the zoo/football stadium has certainly beds available but you are far off from any interesting restaurants etc.

We stayed in a boutique place near the old city wall and it was great to just stroll around for dinner etc.

Valencia is a gorgeous town and lots to see, just don't expect much of F1 festivities. The race is a non event for the city.
