    You sure about that Ian
Agreed, Brawn has shown that is not the case, however the confusion on not making clear whether there diffuser was legal before the racing started cast a cloud over it IMO. you could argue show fixing again.

Mosley the sicko dictator has won nothing, he knew the outcome before they went.

I'am now very close to turning my back on this sport, I cannot believe on F-chat off all places, meat heads not including (Ian-Mac), support basically a Mad dictating lunatic. Tells me alot, There eyes are open, the mouth moves, but Mr Brain has long since departed.

How many threads are needed on this subject, Thanks Carol for this one though.

More than ever before, Bernie has built this into a business - one that eats huge sums of money. Maybe the need for a budget cap is more a result of the sport reaching the point of no return (that it may be impossible for ANY team to get a return on a half billion dollar investment anymore - World Champion or not). If that's the case, the end can't be too far away.

"Stop us before we spend again!"
I get what you're saying. The costs have spiraled out of control and no one wants to be the first to cut back drastically fearing that the other teams won't as well.
The spending cap is only half of the equation though. The teams would rather increase their share of the revenue at Bernie's expense. He, on the other hand, argues if the teams spend less they'll make more and so pushes the spending cap.
In any case it is a strange world when one looks to Bernie Ecclestone for financial probity :)

This post says it all for me - the last F1 race we attended at Spa sucked when compared to the GP2 race - in the rain, on slicks, no driver giving into conditions, awesome driving by Nico. And you are absolutely correct about LMS having REAL racing in each of the classes. Formula 1 has been self-destructing for some time now - it's not the pinnacle anymore - look at what the other manufacturers are achieving with cars - Formula 1 is making this big-to-do about KERS - the Peugeot 908 hybrid ran at Silverstone last September, the Ginetta-Zytek is a hybrid....

Have a fan-friendly breakaway series with a catchy name and let the lesser teams have their own show in FGP3 with their caps and silly rules. I think the reall hard-core fans will go with the major manufacturers and the others become an also ran series.

Steve, thanks for the comment about this thread.....perhaps the mods can eventually combine them.

Carol, I think you saw the slide about 3 or 4 years ago with all of the silly tire rules and tacked-on regulations to eliminate Ferrari's advantages at the zenith of their championship runs. It has declined each year to the point where it feels like results are engineered. With the next proposed changes it really does become a series with manufactured competition. (i.e. competitiveness achieved through rules and controls)

I would love to see Ferrari in endurance sports car racing. But they better stick to GT... at least don't expect them to step into LMP1 and win. Given the quality of team strategy this year, Audi will hand them their a$$ in a bag.
