Anybody know what that "plate" stuck on the right front wheel is?

    Brake fan.
BBS used them quite a bit.

Ronal incorporated a similar design into its "Turbo" magnesium wheel-center casting. I have one of my old 15X12 ones about 30 feet away from me, used for a glass-top coffee table base.

Yup, a lot like the "blown" wheel hub design in MB F1 cars of late. Also a hint of flat aero for high speed drag reduction at Le Mans as so forth. 787B fronts.

The Bugatti type 35B was the first car to have alloy wheels. Its blades were set at a slight angle, pitched like a fan to cool the drum brakes that were integrated into the wheel. Not as efficient as the BBS setup for disc brakes, but way ahead of its time for the 1920s.

Although you could change brakes just by simply swapping the wheel, which was even better than later designs.

Woooow: with the modern machinery around and the subtle angle of the picture... the F40 nose looks amazing: what a stance!!
