David Hobbs had a great idea during the race: have other drivers or team members interviewd, not just the top three drivers. Example given: M.S. placed forth in his last F1 race and did not get interviewed. I have no idea who won that race and while this is important, years later is an opportunity missed to speak with the greatest driver in the history of F1 after his last race. Anyone else think this is a good idea. Ken
Problem is that it has to be done quickly - and if you pick the poor guy who screwed the pooch that day, he may not even be around - i.e. Button in Bahrain - Kimi in Monaco (on his yatch sipping a cold one). "Story of the day" sounds good, but it distracts from the winners positive emotion for the sport - which leaves everyone with a positive feeling for the weekend. Just my first impression of the idea.
Well the main broadcaster is limited to time. Only makes sense they only show the Top3, most of the teams are packing up and having race debriefs, they all are really pressed for time and it would be a nightmare interviewing everyone after the race. Still if you walk down pitlane after the race, you usually see some post race interviews. Getting access to these interviews is ofcourse a problem...
I think a post race interview with the "Story of the day" as said before could be a good idea. The top 3 interview is sometimes boring as the answers are typical each race. "Every thing went well" for # 1, "could have been better" # 2 and 3. Good god they have all day programs for Nascar with interviews with the peanut vendors five more minutes with a good post F1 race story is not going to kill anyone. Bernie would approve; more time = more bucks.
I stopped watching the post race interview as they are possibly the most boring part of the whole race. As said above, it's always the same questions answers again and again. There are usually events that happen in a race that you want to hear about though, maybe there was a crash, or someone stopped on track for presumably no reason. Those events should be inteviewed upon rather than defaulting to the race leader. But it will never happen because Bernie and Max have created and fostered an elitist attitude among the F1 participants and the press are lowly bystanders lucky to be allowed in the presence of the chosen few. A journalist who asked anything inflammatory would be kicked out and the drivers don't feel they owe the press (and in turn, the fans) anything beyond showing up and driving. It's humorous when even the President of the United States of America is frequently taken to task by journalists who ask tough questions without getting kicked out, yet god forbid someone ask Hamilton anything or speaks to Schumacher or any Ferrari driver or has the nerve to do anything other than toss a PC softball right over the plate for the driver to hit a homer on.
+1 Hamilton after he had a bad race or crash : i know i will be faster in the race, and i'm confident this setback won't hold me down for long. i'm a competitive person. ..
Other networks do get other driver interviews. Problem is, Speed has one man at the track... Windsor. He is the interviewer for the podium drivers. If I'm not mistaken, ITV usually has 4 anchors (Blundell, Brundel, Rider, and Allen) and 2 reporters (Goodman and Kravitz), all at the track. This allows them to get multiple interviews at every race. They often have the reporters grabbing people in the pitlane while the anchors have set up interviews with regulars like Button in the paddock. Then they show the world feed's press conference with Windsor. So, it isn't that no one has come up with this wonderful idea, it is just that Speed hasn't. Or more likely, Speed isn't willing to foot the bill to send all these people and live broadcast equipment to every race.
This is formula one baby, anything can be done. You bastards who say it can't be done are not speaking in the spirit of the sport.
100% Agree, Hamilton is the most boring person to hear talking. "100% pushing... without my engineers I wouldn't be here... I'm not going to tell you what I'm really thinking... I'm so excited". Alonso, Massa and Coulthard are my favorites in the press conferences.
I think Mark Webber's interview last year when he got 3rd at Nurburgring (i think) was pretty good, he went into so much detail. FA I think was laughing because he couldn't believe how much Webber was talking...haha, but it was good!
The FIA has to start forcing these drivers to do interviews. Say what you will about NASCAR, at least they get the fans involved. Hopefully if Mosley is ousted they'll bring in some new blood and new ideas.
