http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/71352 Apparently both McLarens made contacts with him at the start.
No not really, they got more than you thought, Kimi is out of the championship points race most likely because of that incident. If he would have not been hit, he may have won outright and still in the hunt, so no, they still got 1 bird (horse better yet) with 2 stones!
As a matter of fact, given Mclaren's history of cheating, it would not surprise me that they had planned to take kimi out before the race started to make sure he could not help Massa with points. Where was Kimi on the start, between the Mclaren's?
IMO, it doesn't make a difference. Kimi does deserve to be WDC this year with such pathetic performances.
No way. With the points system the way it is, even though you might be mathematically alive, you're never going to be able come back from ~26 points behind with 3 races to go (or being 19 points behind with 2 races to go). Remy has it right -- to many bad results before this race sealed Kimi's fate long ago.
Kimi wasn't driving well enough to win this year anyway. The BEAUTY of it all is that the resulting penalty for Boy Wonder (that's Lewis ) ruined his race.
Kimi Raikkonen, Ferrari (3rd): "Even if third place has put an end to a run of poor results, I am a bit disappointed because today we had the means to win. At the start, I got away well but then, at the first corner, the two McLarens arrived too fast at the braking point and prevented me from turning in, taking me off the track. That lost me a lot of ground and I found myself in the middle of the pack. On top of that, the car was not quite right as I was hit by one of the McLarens: the steering was a bit light and there was other damage as well. I tried to do the best I could but I was not as quick as I'd hoped, especially in the second stint. Before the second stop, I closed on Kubica but I couldn't pass him in the pit stop because on my in lap I found myself behind Rosberg a lap down. Then I tried several times to attack Robert but he defended his position well. At one point, I did find myself slightly ahead of him going into turn 3, but I was on the outside and he did not give up the line so I had to go off the track. After that, I had a bit of graining and so I was not able to catch up again. In any case, I am happy to have brought home important points for the team." http://www.formula1.com/news/headlines/2008/10/8518.html Give me a break Kimi is just crying over spilled milk. I'm about to watch the replay but I don't think the McLaren hit him. He's just sore because he couldn't pass the BMW. He's an absolute joke and he's just making excuses to why he didn't do better.
They both got the same penalty!!!!, but Lewis didn’t hit anyone!!!!!. Boy wonder is STILL winning!! THATS the beauty.
I was also a little surprised when I heard Kimi say that both Mclaren's had hit him, as it didn't look like there was any contact let alone damage to his car. That being said I thought LH's dive down the inside was ridiculous and could have easily put him out of the race had Kimi turned into him (which I'm surprised he didn't). LH is really turning into a bit of a hot head and on several occasions this season has put other drivers at risk, as mentioned by Kubica in a recent interview, LH's aggressive overtaking manoeuvre on Alonso on the final lap being a perfect example.
Derek, LH is a aggressive racer, it also costs him point's, I would rather watch a racer of his style a million x more than a limp wristed driver, that talks about daisys and smiling baby's faces. FA is the same bloody good racers with big mouths, and hence the most talked about ask yourself why that is.
I agree, that was a hot headed move by LH. Even I know that racing brakes arent the most effective when they're cold, and I only race Forza2 on Xbox360. what was he thinking? I was really surpised that Kimi even looked in his mirrors and anticipated that. kudos for that.
I agree I'd much rather watch "real" racers .. but my point is .. LH diving down the inside of turn 1 was a stupid move, with far more downside for him than upside. With a 7 pt lead and 3 races to go, Kimi cud have easily taken him out and Lewis would have been reduced to watching from the pits as Masa took more than the eventual 8th (well 7th now) he finished. Secondly, harassing & then overtaking the race leader on the final lap just to unlap yourself when you're going to finish in 12th irrespective was immature to say the least. If the tables were turned & Alonso did the same thing you could bet both Lewis & Ron would be up in arms. Finally, I'd take Alonso over any of the current crop of drivers.
Agreed, that last lap unlapping was just ridiculous, I'm glad Alonso took the moral highground and just let Hamilton pass.
had a feeling there was some contact there. lewis really screwed up badly this race i don't know why he didn't just tuck in behind kimi. his only goal should be to finish ahead of massa from here on out, it really isn't hard.
Hmm: After Massa's turn one outside pass in Hungary, Lewis told the press he'd never let that happen again. Before the race, Massa told the press that Fuji turn one was like Hungaroring. After getting a bad start off the line, Lewis was bottled up behind Kimi while Massa was charging down the outside. He freaked? (Oh schnapp.)
I completely disagree with your assessment of Kimi's comments. It appears to me that he is simply explaining how his race went. He even compliments Kubica on defending his postion, despite the whole world witnessing blatent blocking by Kubica. Hardly spilt milk. And you should watch the replay as Kimi was in fact hit by the McLaren.
Funny I did watch the replay several times from 3 different angles Kimi was never touched by the McLaren.
Are you that blind? Hami forces Kimi wide and Kimi has two wheels on the grass to avoid contact with Hami. The two did not touch, but following Hami thru is Heikki who's car actually goes wider than Hami's car and clearly touches Kimi's car forcing Kimi all the way onto the escape road and off of the track. Admittedly the first angle shown at the start of the race, it is a little unclear as to whether they touched or not, but the other two angles it is quite clear tha Heikki's car made contact with Kimi's car. Look again...
not blind at all, just not willing to see something that didn't happen. Where is the onboard of Kimi's car?
Besides Kimi stating that he was hit by Heikki and the video evidence, it was also reported by the press in numerous F1 news articles. Not sure what it takes to convince you? Are you smokin anything that may be affecting your short term memory?
