Actually, the car in the photo is an allegedly genuine reproduction.... (salesman speak), the one in my shop is a Roaring 40's... REALLY nice too. And peepee, the "355" you think you saw in the photo... is a TR....
True.. Tasmania dosnt even have an Fcar dealership.. the best they have is a Porsche center in Hobart.. the best car i've ever seen there is a GT3RS.. Foxes museum has some good cars - his GTO, F40, and F50 are the only ones i've ever seen..
Yes I remember the Porsche ctr in Hobart very well. I was at Uni in Sandy Bay and lived in Jane Franklin Hall in Elboden street for 2 yrs. I used to go and look in the windows of the Porsche Ctr all the time; but seldom saw anything more interesting than a base 911. A Turbo was a real treat! The old girl who owned Hadley's pub in Hobart had a couple of Ferraris (Boxer and 308) and sometimes you would see them on the streets. I think her boyfriend used to drive them mostly. As I recall they were in pretty sad condition. Nobody to service them at the time and they used to ship them to John Allan's in Melbourne for service once in a while. I think the only other interesting car that I saw was a Maserati Merak that someone had for sale when I was in 3rd year Uni. Don't know why the guy even let me have a look at it really. I obviously had barely enough money to eat, let alone buy 2nd hand Italian Supercars. Had a lot of fun in Hobart; but not in cars!
i had a feeling it might be. hence the question. i can never tell them apart from that sort of angle.
yes, Victoria seems to have most of the interesting stuff, the biggest gangland killings, the dodgiest lawyers, the biggest egos...need I go on
Chas Kelly supposedly has an F40 and F50 in a museum in launceston somewhere. I saw the F40 crash in Targa Tas when i was little but dont remember much of it.. Defently looks like vic is the place to be for cool cars
are you sure.... I don't think he even drove the F50... last I knew it was locked up in Bond store, and he couldn't decide whether to pay it and use it or leave it in bond and sell it again.
I know the couple. They got married then interest rates went through the roof and as they had borrowed heavily, ended up losing the lot. She ended up having a real attitude problem with anyone making good money....almost turned extreme lefty. Her hubby though is a really nice bloke, has a cosworth these days that he tracks occassionally. There's some really great cars here now.....like M5's Chas Kelly had an F40 which he dinged up bad in Targa. It was sent back to Italy for repair and I think he still has it. Glad you had a good time down here. When I first came down here from Sydney, I hated the place but it didn't take long to adjust, get to know it and love living here.
I was competing against Chas in a Testarossa that year. He was pretty laid back about bending the thing I must admit. I, on the other hand actually had a car bra on the TR 'cause I was worried about stone chips!
Small world hey? There was some conjecture that Chas actually sent the crashed car back for repair and another one came back in it's place. No idea if that actually happened though. It certainly did with the Fox car though.
It sure is. We might have to compare notes one day. You didn't bonk the Hadleys lady did you? = rhetoric question
