No pics, I was a wee lad and never actually saw it. I did see and hear the LM at Sandown a number of times with my old man. Wow what a car! I was even there the day they thumped it into the bridge. I found an article about the restoration of the LM the other day- very cool. I seriously doubt that you will see that car back here. The money grabbing tax office recently changed the import rules. It used to be that once a car was tax paid, you could ship it out and sell it and another person could buy it and re-import it without paying tax. The bastards changed it so that the ONLY person who can bring a car back into the country tax free is the guy who paid the tax in the first place. David McKay died a year or so back.
Thought it'd be nice to get this thread back on topic Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
F50GT S/N 3 F40GTE S/N 88779 Build number 5 F40GTE S/N 74045 Build number 13 (This is the one I really want to own). I am pretty sure that the 2 F40 GTE's are owned by Sam Li in England (he owns 3! )
Third in fact; but first in that shade of French Racing Blue. What I like about that particular car is it's colourful and interesting race career and it's ultimate specification.
Thats just cus you had an F40, and you dont like the F50 as much.. and maybe a little biased its all a matter of opinion.. i'd take an F50 anyday over an F40.. I love the yellow and blue F40 GTE's
you just seem to have a leaning towards the F40 whenever the debate between F40 and F50 comes up thats all. Its all just a matter of preference like you said, i didnt mean any offence
Cool! well im going to add a few more pics into this thread theres a car or two posted here, you should all be familliar with on a downside, my file limit for attachments is getting less - might have to subscribe soon.. The first car is F40 GTE S/N 84503. It is the 3rd F40 racer that we have in Victoria and it is now owned by Mahir Alghadri. Unfortunately rarely seen, it was the last F40GTE built in 1998!! My F50 was 341/349 and it was also built in 1998, to give you an idea how late that F40 really is. The photo was taken when the car was owned by Benny Caiola. Incidentally, Cailoa also owned F40 GTE S/N 85015 which is the car now for sale at Maranello Motorsport. The other photo's are obviously Gil's car S/N 97881. Ed Wettach was the first owner of that car.

I wish Algadri was taking his GTE to Mt Buller instead of his Evo. http://img3.imageshack.us/img3/558/00101459xp.jpg
I have to smile at your first picture because I took a photo of Gil's LM at the 2003 GP and it had a very different HP figure on the placard.
I can answer this. The Tattersall's corp. make up their own placards for the cars in the tent. The first placard they made was for a normal F40LM gt/gte/imsa car which have 690 horsepower. The GTC's (of which mine is the last one), have 786 horsepower (approx), in normal full boost, but have a qualifying mode of 850 horsepower. (So I told tattersall's to shove their placard because it was wrong)
