Lol! thx for the catch the 1:20 in the GT4 McLaren was a typo -- supposed to be 2:20. (it's not even that good of time-- car is capable of 2:19-- it was my first year and not much experience at COTA at the time).
I must be getting old— I thought I was really pushing it at Willow Springs on a race tired car and I ended up with the same lap time as my Scud on N1’s. More practice is needed. 133:4 in Scud and 1:33.4 in Porsche old 935 copy.
I like this thread. 2011 Porsche S - PCA GTB1 race car Lime Rock Park - 56.4 Watkins Glen - 2:02 Summit Point - 1:18 NJMP Thurnderbolt - 1:26 I'll report back on Sebring times in a few days!
I had a lot of work done to the car over the winter so hopefully times should drop in 2020! Here is a picture as well as video of the race where I pulled the 56.4. Image Unavailable, Please Login
I appreciate the compliment! The car puts down about 360HP at the wheels which makes it fast at a momentum track like Lime Rock, where horsepower is less of a deciding factor than a track like Watkins Glen. I actually need to get my time down at WGI by about 1.5 to podium so I am hoping making my car 100 pounds lighter will help me get there.
Yes, that would be moving! At Lime Rock the speed you can achieve, on what is a relatively short straight, is a product of how fast you take the down hill coming onto the front straight. We often say that the straight starts at West Bend (the turn before the down hill.) In truth, LRP is such a momentum track that every turn has an impact on the next more than a horsepower track like WGI. What are you driving?
Those are hot little cars. They do well at Lime Rock because they handle well and are light and don't need a lot of horsepower. What times are you putting down at LRP?
i never timed myself in lotus. just hpde, never raced. im always slowest driver in instructor group though. used to drive a stock nissan gtr at 1 minute flat getting to 135 at end straight. but that was with 550 hp in 4000lb car on regular street tires. totally different experiences but I prefer lotus to gtr. open top, handling, shifting vs going fast.
