Have you guys ever fried your own potato chips? I have a friend who does this and I can’t stop until I have eaten them all.

Thx, I recall that as well. My desire is to be on the floor, eating off the line. Back in my Nestle days I should have made it happen via contacts.

I did once or twice. Same issue as you. So, I stopped. I've tried using an air fryer. Sweet potatoes tasted better than regular spuds, but neither is close to deep fried!

Search potato and it lists some potato chip factory tours. Frito Lay is HQ'd in the Metroplex, but they don't do factory tours anymore. ☹️

I’m into Kettle no salt added, non gmo chips right now. Delicious and relatively decent if you have high BP.

I have recently been exploring malt vinegar (not regular vinegar) chips. When I was a kid, we used to go to Captain D’s where they served malt vinegar like the British fish and chips places do and wanted to see if anyone was doing that in a potato chip.

Turns out there are a couple of American brands and a couple of imported British brands doing these.

My first purchase was the Boulder Canyon brand. They tend to be inconsistent chip to chip, sometimes it tastes like a regular vinegar chip, but the next one may have that malt vinegar taste which is great.

After these are finished (bought 12 small bags), I’ll try one of the British imports.

I’ve tried the British malt chips and enjoyed, depending on brand.

Will be back @ London house soon and can pop into a few stores to see. Sometimes they are seasonal in Marks and Spencer.

Was back in Central PA to see my Mom and went to Karns for all the PA Dutch food I miss, including Chips. Brought back Middleswarth's, Moyers, Gibbles and Martins. Those Mennonites know how to make a chip (UTZ is in nearby Hanover).

That is correct. If you time it around Nov-Dec they get some funky ones like turkey stuffing and gravy flavored.

    I like the mature cheddar.

Those are our current favorite chips. They are awesome by themselves, but also stand up to a good French onion dip.
