So I have a GTC4Lusso V12 that I got in Sep ‘22 when it had 9500 miles on it. The existing power 15 warranty is up next month I put AG Luxury wheels, FI exhaust x pipe, and FI exhaust muffler on it since I purchased it. No tune, no other modifications at all. I had Ferrari Tampa Bay pic it up last week and they are saying they won’t extended the warranty due to the wheels and muffler. The car has 11,XXX miles on it and absolutely nothing wrong with it. Is that right? The inspection is almost $1500 and then the 1 year warranty is $6300. So almost $8k for another 12 months a year and I’ll probably drive it 4k miles a year would love some feedback here on if this is normal SOP for Ferrari with basic modifications thanks.
Yes that is correct. It’s not Tampa Ferrari fault but Ferrari the manufacturer. I have a 2019 488 that will be up to renew the 2yr extra warranty and we discussed this at Tampa Ferrari and I have HRE wheels and Novitec springs. I was told it will be hard to get it through inspection photos for Ferrari to approve. So I’d have to put my stock wheels on…no problem…but I’d have to put stock springs back on it. I’m looking at massive labor to put stock prints back on align it and the then put Novitec springs back on and align it, plus the expense of the inspection and cost or warranty. So I feel ya…I am not happy. I love my 488 but I’m about over all the BS. I do not want a car like this with zero powertrain warranty. Tampa Ferrari has been honest and helpful about this. I need to make a decision by September…. Spend $20k in warranty and labor to make it happen for this warranty or sell the car.
I wouldn’t bother. Ferrari’s are so much more reliable than any other cars that I own. You be have to be unlucky if something actually went wrong! May the Horse be with you
I agree - I've owned a Portfolio, 812 SF and 812 GTS and never had anything go wrong (except the odd random error message, which goes away) I would simply self insure... put the warranty money in a different savings account... if nothing goes wrong you can spend it on more modifications! ;-)
On the other hand, a friend had an exhaust and a bad tune on an 812SF and his gearbox blew up 1 month after his warranty expired, $70K right there. He ended up selling the car for $82K (yeah…) I personally just take the exhaust off whenever I take it to the dealer and put it back on afterwards. I have a good relation with the exhaust shop so I do each removal+installation for $1100. I only do that around 2-3 times each year so not a big deal honestly. I think of it as the “best sounding road car” tax.
1500 for the inspection, really? your downside is the DCT and PTU, each of which can be fixed for about $9 each aftermarket....realistically your downside is $20k of risk...not worth paying $8k a year
You’re lucky Karl. My 8 month old GTS, went wrong last weekend, drove to the petrol station and the aircon was going full blast, drove home and the aircon still kept blowing at full blast even when the car was turned off! It needs a new battery [ suprise suprise] and aircon module. Called Ferrari Assist and the lorry came on Monday, the driver got out of the car when it was on the lorry, and hit the door on the tent frame of the lorry, yes I did say tent fame, now I need to get the Rac quotes to fix the door which will need removing, so I am told. Watch the bad video and it shows him looking at the damaged door when he gets out, then tried to cover the car but the cover is hung up on the front of the car and he pulls it with all his might and has 3 goes at it!! Ferrari assist have been no help, RAC premium have been no help and have handed it to the RAC, who I have had one email from, which states they may 20 days to respond!
What am I looking at here, Ferrari Assist UK or a Benny Hill sketch?? You should never have to experience that, hopefully solved quickly..
Unbelievable how he fixed the car with the ratchet straps. There is excellent fixing equipment on the market and you should think that a professional should know how to fix a car on a truck. A pro never fixes through the rims and spokes. Daniel
You can shop around. I know SAFE4NOW will charge you much less. Unfortunately you'd have to get the car to Texas.
What a mess and what an amateurism ...... I would never have my car transported like that. Success and strength with the sequel.
Thank you all for the feedback. They confirmed earlier today that I would have to put the car back to stock to extend the warranty. I’m going to self insure it at this point as I’m having Novitec springs but on in 2 weeks. I love the car and it’s almost perfect for my family. Wish I could get the 3 kids in the back but Ferrari will never have a solution for that. side note, the car is a 2017 and there is nothing on file that the battery has been replaced. I’ve noticed the car hesitates a little when I don’t drive it for a few days which to me is an indicator of a battery losing charge and about to go dead. They said they can replace it for $650 out the door and I’m considering that since it’s there. They did state the battery was fine and holding a charge. Should I risk it, just change it now as future convenience, or buy an antigravity battery and try to do the install myself? thanks.
That is a Tampa Ferrari decision not Ferraris. I have a 2017 Lusso. FofNE put my Kline exhaust on with O2 sensor spacers and I just renewed my Power 15. They actually just finished the inspection today in conjunction with my yearly maintenance. $269 for the inspection and $4551 for the renewal with the 2 discounts available…. These cars are very reliable, until they’re not. Having gone through a PTU fiasco I’ll spend the $5K for a little piece of mind….. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Why are they allowing you to renew, at a much lower rate to top, than me? I have wheels and a FI x pipe and exhaust. Nothing else and they declined me. I would renew especially at the numbers you mentioned.
Those $ numbers are way way super cheap for a Ferrari manufacturer warranty….and that they snuck the car by Ferrari with exhaust mods.
V12 It is like anything else. They can charge you whatever they want and then pay Ferrari the actual cost. $1500 for the inspection is criminal though. SAFE4NOW (Steve) the Boardwalk service manager has helped me out over the past couple years in pricing. He is extremely helpful and always willing to share info. Last year I had to ask for the discount. This year they remembered. MSRP is $5760 $570 discount for renewal and $570 discount for no claims in the previous year I would call Central Florida and see what they say Here’s my paperwork I just got yesterday Image Unavailable, Please Login Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Hmmm, I don't know if prices have gone down or if you are a preferred customer. Eleven months ago FNE quoted $400 inspection and $8700 for the warranty. I told them what SAFE4NOW quoted and they didn't budge a penny. End run I have continued to self insure. Since this would have been my 4th payment of $9100, I'm way ahead of the game if the PTU fails. I did have FNE do two repairs which totaled $7200, and neither would have been covered by the warranty. So I'm even further ahead. I would have been pi$$ed if I paid for the warranty and still had to shell out that money.
No where near a preferred customer. I’ve always serviced my cars there but only bought my 458 (now gone) from them new back in 2013. The price is the same as I paid last year and also what SAFE4NOW quoted. That warranty price sounds like the bumper to bumper extension and not the Power15. Big difference Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
No, it is the Main Power Warranty, I still have all the texts from them. Plus when I had the other repairs I asked if they would have been covered and was told no. I'm fine with it anyway, I'm ahead of the game now. I never buy extended warranties on anything I purchase. I only looked into this warranty due to the cost and likelihood of a PTU failure.
SAFEFORNOW posted Power15 @ $6300 MSRP end of last year. Prices probably up from then. You got a smoking deal with cost starting with a 4 for a V12. Everyone else's will start with a 6 or 7.
The extended warranty is making less and less sense now that DCT fixes exist… all of my dealer ¨fixes¨ have been out of warranty coincidentally. Self insurance will be the route I take once my F warranty expires later this year. Too much money, too little coverage for that. Good marketing ploy and F plays on fear of breakdown by the overcharged customers… Drive them often, takes care of a lot of issues these cars see. Some will fail because of age, my F12 turns 10 years old this year ! Accept it and enjoy the cars.
