At the moment I power my dashcam in the Portofio with a wire running down to the 12v socket, which is annoying. I was wondering if anyone's taken power from the rearview mirror for theirs.

As there are the buttons for the garage door opener in the unit I'd hope that there's a switched 12v live but the question is whether there's a neat way to use that to get a 5v USB-C cable attached.

There is 12-volt wiring available across the top of the windshield. I used the connector for the passenger-side visor light to power my radar detector for a very clean mounting.

Thanks, was that something easy enough to do yourself without causing any damage?

I hope there is someone here who can describe how to remove the plastic in that area for easy access to the wiring. Six years ago when the car was new I removed the passenger visor and fed an Invisicord harness from the outside visor mount to the inside visor mount where the detector is mounted.
