    On my 1997 spider the passenger seat stopped moving in the forward direction when putting the top down using the top button. The seat would move with the seat button. The next time I went to put the top down the seat wouldn't move in either direction with the top button or seat button. The top still goes down even with the passenger seat not moving ( I use the recline lever to fold the back of the seat forward So the top clears).
    Any ideas? I don't think its a potentiometer problem since the top still works.

    Hopefully someone who knows for sure will post. I haven't had any issues with my top yet so I am just guessing but the seat pots seem to be an issue.

    Looking forward to what you find. I'll do some searching on here and post if I find something pertinent.

    There is a lot to go bad on the spider. The first thing you need to check is if the seat will move back and forth by itself if you apply 12V to the motor.

    Then if that works, you need to go to the top controller ECU and see why you are not getting voltage to the seat.

    My guess is the motors almost never go bad. But the controller board and the potentiometer do.
