Anyone replaced or rebuilt their 430 power steering pump due to it leaking? Mine appears to be leaking from the bottom inboard corner. Seems it should be easy enough to remove the four screws and reseal it.

The oil on the engine is dry, which is why I’m confident it’s the pump that’s leaking.

    Mike,

Definitely a fluid leak. It’s a small leak, but enough that it needs repaired.

Only shows the complete pump on the diagram at about £500, would expect it to have an o ring in a recess but not shown as a spare or a repair kit. Will have a look on workshop manual disc to c how it comes apart

Just shows how to change the pump, looks like AC compressor needs moving to get access. No exploded diagram.

Mike, really appreciate you looking. Upon further research it turned out to be the hose clamp by the pump. There wasn’t any of the normal residue on the hose itself but there was some at the pipe. Cleaned everything up, put a new clamp on and will see if that did it in a few miles when it’s time to do the fluid changes.

That makes more sense as some of the black looked like it was from the aux belt- r u changing that as not an expensive item. Available from local VW dealer
