Has anyone tried the Powerchip for the 550? I heard that they ae getting some pretty big gains out of the V12.

The power gains posted were for a car that was chipped, filters installed etc. From my experience a good portion of the gain can be attributed to the filters.
The way that chipping works is to increase the amunt of ignition advance and correct the fuel mixture to one more optimised for peak power.
Based on my experience with the 550, there is a small gain to be had from leaning the fuel mixtures out (the factory ECU is designed to richen the mixture on full load/WOT) Realistically I would expect no more than a 15hp gain from ECU alone, which is less than either changing the airfilters or fixing the restriciton in the mid muffler, both of which together are siginficantly cheaper than a Powerchip.

Is the restriction in the mid-muffler taken care of if you have TUBIs or is this the 2000 and on exhaust manifold restriction mentioned in hansw's thread? What air filters would give you the most HP gain?

This is a completely different issue, the pipes straight after the cats, where they are joined to the mid muffler are pinched badly. On my car this gave just over 15rwhp power increase, with peak power now at the rev limiter instead of 500rpm earlier. As to filters, as far as I know there is very little, if any difference between BMC and K&N.

Thanks for the feedback. I have a Tubi, stebro x pipe is going on this week along with the BMC air filter. How much HP would estimate these changes add to the stock qoute?

Do a before and after dyno yourself to find out on your car. I had a 30kW rear power increase from the same mods. Invest $100-$150 and know for sure!

Where did you purchase the BMC filters?

    PCH,

Arling got them 4 me. But I also ordered them online anyway. The site is a little confusing at first, but you can order direct too.
