    Is a PPI check plus service record review the best way to determine mechanical reliability and soundness? Are there any other ways to avoid buying a car with "problems"?

    Hey ohcan,

    I am in NS. Purchased my 348 about 3 yrs ago in US. If I had to do it again I would purchase from someone that has belonged to a chat forum for a good length of time. You can follow the story of their car in a no-bs manner.

    As for ppi, how sure can you be that the owner and ppi shop are not friends? How sure can you be that the ppi shop is good and be on the lookout for model-specific issues?

    No matter how you look at it you are rolling the dice to some degree with a used fcar.

    Troy these are good points and based on this are there any members that can provide the following:

    A good mechanic that can provide a thorough model specific PPI in or around Upland CA?

    Joe SanPaulo from Concours Automotive is an independant Ferrari mechanic who can do it. He is located in La Habra, CA about 25 miles from Upland. His number is 562-697-4188. You will probably have to have the car towed to his shop. Joe is a good guy, he has worked on my 355 for 3 years. Good luck!

    Hey FDJ, I lived in Chino Hills for 3 years until 2005/6. My wife was so pissed at me for moving back to Vancouver. She loved the sunshine and the area so much she tortured me for 12 months after we left to go back...

    looking at 2 cars and reviewing service records. How detailed should I expect these to be? Do you guys have records for the life of the car? Is something I should expect?
