Anyone now a reputable mechanic that can perform a PPI in the Dallas area?
Norwoods told me a few months back that they stopped doing PPI's for liability reasons. Is this still true?
Robert Rodgers of Shade Tree Enginetrics is excellent at assessing cars. Web: www.shadetreeenginetrics.com/index.html , phone: 972-843-8134. Robert specializes in Italian cars.
I don' think Norwoods has quit doing PPI's, I seem to recall hearing that they did one just a few weeks ago. I'd start there, then work down the rest of the list.
Last I heard, Shade Tree does not have an SD2 so if it's a newer f-car, you'll need to go to Norwoods or Boardwalk Ferrari.
Noorwood does a full PPI (6 hours) for $450. The new rule is that they require both parties to be present at the time of the inspection. Since I am an out of town buyer and the seller is a dealership, this ought to get interesting.
Maybe you can ask the if dealership to allow James from Norwood to do the PPI at the dealership - they have all the necessary equipment. Then all you have to do pay Norwoods for additional travel time and you fly down.
That is a good suggestion from Speed Racerette, I would be happy to go to the dealer for the PPI. You could problably even go a bit further and have them perform the mechanical aspect of the inspection, give you all the info that I would on a PPI and then look the car over yourself or have me meet you there to give a third party opinion. The guys at Boardwalk are very reputable so I think you could rest assured that the info you recieve is correct. Just a suggestion, I will be more than happy to assist in any way Norwood Performance can. As for how we do PPI's - we have been requiring the buyer to be present during the inspection and if we don't know the seller he has to be present as well. I believe this is the best way to do a PPI, everyone knows the exact situation and our liability is at an acceptable level. Good luck, James Patterson Norwood Performance
No Problem Pre Purchase Inspection Getting a set of eyes and hands to look over the car so you know what you are buying
Thank you! From all the talk, I figures it had to do with getting a mech. to look over the car. Now, I know the initials! Appreciate it! J
