Over the last 3 years I have purchased 12+ cars from F of LI. I have never had a problem. It is the best dealership I have done business with.

You might also try to give Bradan a call. They're in Ronconcoma, about 40 minutes east of Plainview.

FOLI is extremly reputable . I bought my 360 and 3 MBs when they owned that dealership. Nice people and they stand by their product. Good luck

I had a somewhat different experience when shopping for my 360 -- their prices were about 10% higher than competition, so I had to take my business elsewhere. However, everyone was extremely polite and professional, so no complaints from that standpoint.

Correct. We can look over a car for you free of charge and give our opinion on it but it will not be an official PPI. We are servicing a few 328's right now and can at least point out some common problems for you to look out for.

There is too much liability in doing a PPI. We are handed cars with PPI reports all the time to service and find things that were missed during the inspection. Some minor, others not. It's difficult for anyone to find everything in 2 hours. Most sellers or dealers will not allow you to start taking there car apart to dig for issues either.

Where are you located? Your name?

I would not recommend any Ferrari dealer for a PPI. A specialty shop is usually the better way to go for a PPI. That's not a knock on Ferrari dealers but it is well known that PPIs are not part of their regular business.

I disagree with the notion of "liability" in a PPI.

Look. A party performing a PPI has the customer sign something that says the results of the PPI are a matter of opinion and that the best way to know a car's condition is to look at it yourself or to have a mechanic with whom you've had a past relationship whom you know and trust look at it for you. The party hiring the PPI should sign and say he releases the party performing the PPI from any liability. Done deal.

People mistake PPIs for gospel. A PPI is supposed to give someone a general sense of a car's condition. It should always be looked in person (and driven) at by any buyer who wants to leave no stone unturned. If someone is the type of buyer who wants to rely solely on a PPI, then he has to not be surprised if there are some things that become apparent later on. Just as absentee ownership in business has its risks, absentee buying has them as well.

Thanks for al the feedback guys.

To 348SStb....My name is Michael and I am in San Diego. My family is on Long Island so going to see the car will not be a problem. The car in question was taken on a trade and just had a $6k (quoted as the dealers cost) major done on it performed by F of LI.

I asked my contact at the dealer to fax me the service sheet to have a look at what was done and he balked. I thought that was a bit odd. As a potential purchaser of the vehicle why wouldn't I be interested to see what was just completed on the car? What is the point of keeping it a secret? As the seller, wouldn't that be something you'd want to use to close the sale?

He did forward the photos I asked for that were missing from the shots posted. They are asking way over what I am being told the car is worth by the brokers I am talking to, but have yet to talk price with them.

I am going to have my brother stop in and do a walk around on the car to see if it's worth moving forward with having a third party (PPI) look the car over before putting in a bid.

Thanks again for all the help and suggestions. Hopefully I can move forward.
