Im looking to purchase my first exotic in the next few months, Still can't make up my mind as it seems to change daily (458, 430 Scud or Huracan) I have a few questions.

Anyone with experience good or bad with Newport Ferrari? Any good sales guys to deal with over there? Any other good recommendations to buy from in SoCal?

Do dealerships tend to take care of you better on service etc... if you buy from them instead of a third party such as private party or say CNC motors? My service location would likely be Newport Ferrari

As far as eventual resale are maintenance records looked at as more reliable if the service is done at a dealership as opposed to a private shop?

Does anyone have a good recommendation for a PPI in the area?

And lastly, I've read a lot of threads on here about people buying and having to wait to take delivery. Is this common? All my other cars I've bought have undergone a detail while signing paperwork but i've left with the car that day. Is there something different with these cars?

Paying cash for the car if that matters at all. Probably why I have so many questions, first time I've ever dropped this much cash on anything. Just want to make sure I do it right. If anyone has any buying advice or words of wisdom I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you in advance

First, make up your mind. If you're going to happily keep a car for a number of years, you have to KNOW. Different marques and eras attract different types of people. The people you will associate with are half the fun. Many clubs do not require ownership; join, meet, and learn.

For a car more than 10 years old, maybe less, go to an indie for the ppi. Make sure he is a marque specialist. Dealers don't spend money training people to work on old cars.

I bought a 430 from Ferrari of Newport Beach three years ago. Dealt with Chris Pullis. Very positive experience. I would buy a car from him again.

Gary Bobileff is a sponsor here and comes highly recommended. He did a PPI on a car I nearly bought in CA but someone else beat me to hiring him for the PPI. He was gracious enough to discuss the car with me in details that were fair to the PPI purchaser as well as to the seller. I really respected how he handled the process. Just my $.02.

Thank you for the recommendations, really leaning toward the scud at this point. More I look at the lambo the less I like it, really love the 458 but I feel at this point they are really too much of a gamble with the impending 488 deliveries and rapidly decreasing cost. The 360/430 body style is just so classic and amazing, so now its just finding the scud that I just can't live without in my price range. And I am looking to hold onto this car for a long time and enjoy it not just an investment or flip

Just keep in mind that a ppi is not a warranty, it is a snapshot of the condition of the car, and something can break the very next drive out... Though, it is a valuable status report to have and gives you an idea of what you are getting into.

Most of the scuds im seeing are in the 15k mile range, is there anything specific around this mileage that I should be looking for in maintenance records or would there be a major service due around that time if it is not done yet? And I am aware a PPI is not a warranty, i just want to rule out any abuse of the car and not buy someones problem they are looking to offload
