Can anyone recommend reputable shop or individual to perform a PPI on a vintage Maserati in the Oceanside Area.
The location is about 15 miles from Oceanside or about an hour north of San Diego.
    Thank you,
    Jeff

That's where I got my 308. Very good experience, I'd definitely talk to them about it.

Cavallo Motorsports is really good. They are in Carlsbad.

I have already left Gary a message.
Hopefully he is not too busy or too far away.
    Thank you,
    Jeff

Talk to Chris Dugan at Cavallo Motorsports in Carlsbad; much closer to you than Gary's shop. Cavallo (760) 603-8321 ;-)

    Hi Everyone.

Thank you all for your wonderful recommendations.

Both Chris and Gary have offered excellent information, advise and recommendations.
They are both wonderful to speak with and extremely patient and informative.
There is no hard sell as they both have great reputations and seem to be genuinely nice guys willing to look after a potential buyers best interests.

Unfortunately, the potential seller is very uncooperative and will not make the car available for a PPI any place other than his home garage in the middle of an out of the way orange grove...
Being from NJ maybe I'm behind the times and did not realize orange groves are now considered chic SoCal auto spas. What will they think of next? LOL

For someone looking to possibly sell a $100K + car it is not what anyone would consider optimal buying conditions. I will keep you updated if the situation changes and if the oranges are ripe and tasty.

BTW if you do run into a seller who repeats the phrase "cash is king" you've found the orange grove guy.
Bring cash in unmarked low denomination bills in a discreet paper bag and a very good tech if you do plan to visit anytime soon.

I'd still have someone go look at it and do a deeper inspection if it first passes a visual. Based on that, give the guy a deposit and then go look at it yourself with the balance. If the car's that great I wouldn't let some hard @ss weirdo stand in the way. It may be a really good one as most won't put up with him. He sounds a little eccentric, doesn't trust anyone and wants to hide the sale. Not that unusual for a guy with money who wants to be on the down low. Bottom line is if you think the car is that great, go get it.

The seller will not accept a deposit to hold the car therefore I can only guess something is not right. Too much potential downside $$$ to not do it by the book.
Time to move on rather than ruminate over what might be.

Seller never showed up for PPI in San Diego today after twice confirming appointment with myself and Gary Bobileff's shop.
Then this evening when I was finally able to reach him he said he was having issues.
Yet he did not have the consideration to call Gary and let him know he could not make it.
Those other issues included him calling Kerry McMullen at MIE to try to find out if he could get more for the car than he already agreed to sell it to me.
Sudden he tells me Kerry has advised him he suddenly owns an extremely rare car LOL.
My all original 1966 Buick GS convertible with a 445 Wildcat is probably rarer.
Not the most honorable individual to deal with. At this point I cannot confirm the car is what he claims without a PPI.
My assumption is he still is waiting for the guy from last Friday who was going to show up with the bag full of cash to come to his house and buy a car that won't start.
Every part of my body screams take a Valium and walk away.
There is always another nice car and hopefully just as nice of a person selling it.
If you do happen to run into this joker be sure to cover every angle before you give him a dime.
