I am looking at a 2014 FF. The vehicle is not being sold through a Ferrari dealer but another exotic dealership. There is a Ferrari dealership that is less than 1 hour from where the car is. They have agreed to have the vehicle driven to the Ferrari dealership ( at my cost) for an inspection. I would seriously consider purchasing the 1 year power warranty from Ferrari after I purchase the car. Is there a difference from the traditional PPI and the inspection the car would go through in order to qualify for the CPO and have the ability to purchase the warranty?

I wasn't aware that you could get a CPO from a Ferrari dealership if the car was not purchased from the dealership? You can likely get some kind of warrantee insurance which may or may not be similar to a CPO contract.

I hope that’s not the case? I thought it was possible to bring the car to a Ferrari dealership even though it was not purchased through them and if it passes their inspection you may have the ability to purchase the power warranty hopefully somebody can answer this question

In short yes, ppi is dony by an independent and cpo is done by dealer. Not in depth either

ok then so if i understand correctly, i can have the car brought to the Ferrari dealer for my 'pre' purchase inspection. That inspection should tell me what, if anything is needed in order for me to potentially spend $6200 on the power warranty?

PPI is more of peace of mind and to make you aware of the overall condition of the car, the warranty is up to you.

Any CPO warranty inspection is always going to be more thorough because whoever is underwriting the warranty doesn't want to warranty stuff that is already broken, big or small. Usually CPO warranty extensions are best done near the end of the normal warranty so that anything that needs to be fixed can be fixed under warranty rather than out of pocket.

I would assume a CPO inspection is much more thorough than a PPI because it's potentially a large liability to the underwriter (Ferrari?)

If they miss something on a PPI, or don't look at everything, it really doesn't matter to anyone other than you since you're paying out of pocket once you find out it's broke. On a CPO inspection though, Ferrari or some third party is the one paying and they certainly don't want to be.

Thanks for the responses. I just spoke to the authorized Ferrari dealer that I would bring the car to this morning. All the above confirmed. PPI inspection cost $500, the more thorough CPO inspection $750. For the extra $250 worth having the CPO inspection even if I decide not purchase the warranty, ($5700).
