I'm delighted to say that after 100+ hours, I've finally received my PPL. I started and stopped twice in the US on this journey due to work and logistical issues, but my love for flying always brought me back.

I moved to Singapore over a year ago, and after evaluating the choices to train here, decided it would be wiser to resume training in the US. I coupled my training with a business trip. Let me put it this way: the business trip was a piece of cake relative to the intensive 11 day 'boot camp' I participated in. - :)

I trained through the Flight Academy at their Eagle Creek (KEYE) location in Indianapolis, IN. The flight instructor - Tim - was excellent and I would recommend TFA to anybody interested in participating in an intensive learning program. The plane I used during training was one I had bought: a Cirrus SR-22 GTS G3.

The SR-22 is now in Singapore finishing up its servicing. I had it ferried over from the US, and that 'adventure' itself is worthy of another post. I am spending the time it is getting serviced to familiarize myself with airspace requirements and restrictions in Southeast Asia as there are many of both, including and especially when flying VFR. Most onerous is the understanding of the reporting waypoints along certain routes. Quite different than flying in the US.

I am traveling now, but will post pics of the aircraft shortly.

Just wanted to post to say hi after a long hiatus. It's good to have finally received my PPL. I am looking to put it to work in the region. I have already started mugging up my IFR books to get a headstart on my Instrument Rating which I hope to complete early next year, although I am getting tired of Rod Machado's brainless humor in his latest IFR Handbook.

    Best.

Congrats Vik! Curious to hear how flying differs in Singapore.
