Way back, and I mean way back, I traveled to Mexico.

While there, my cousins who still live there) gave me some little figures that they said had been dug up in and around Teotihuacan at the pyramids.

I wandered into the Cleveland Museum of Natural History and saw very similar stuff.

DOES ANYONE HERE KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT THIS Pre-Columbian type of stuff.

If so, are these real, knock offs, what, and if you don't know, can you steer me to someone who would?

    Thanks,

Okay. I'm no expert, but back in the 60s, as a kid, I lived in Central America. My mom purchased some figurines similar to those that you have. The word was, back in those days, that there were a lot of fakes about. Face it, many clever very poor people + rich Americans willing to buy anything + figurines that are easy to reproduce = vast opportunities and motivation for fakery.

My mom used to joke that ours are probably fake. If you're interested, I can send some pics.

Having said all that, it would take a real expert to decide whether yours are authentic or not. They might be. They look good.

Mine came out of construction sites from an uncle who owned a concrete company there. (emailed my aunt, got the story.)

I think there's a better than average chance they are real. Gonna start to dig around a bit on the internet for some idea of what they really are.

From that, it does sound like there's a much better chance of yours being authentic. I would suggest that you look for an expert at a museum or university in your area. I would think they could be quite valuable...

From what I've learned this AM, anywhere from a few hundred dollars to several thousand dollars each, depending on a variety of factors.

    I'm gonna keep digging.

Wow! One (or both) of them might even be worth enough to cover the cost of a Dino tune-up!
