I did a thread about pre-Grand(s) Prix rituals awhile back and the response was pretty good so I thought to make one concerning pre-drive rituals.

    Mine:
    (1) Open the garage door and say, "hello sweatheart!" Yes, I really do.
    (2) Check for excessive leaks.
    (3) Once over with Meguiar's Quick Detail.
    (4) A light conditioning of the leather.
    (5) Say a quick "thank you" for the opportunity to drive such a car....and not to have an accident while doing so.
    (6) A walk-around and in I go.

    How 'bout you?

    1) Remove the car cover.
    2) Remove the targa top. (It's the only way to drive.)
    3) Warm up the engine.
    4) Back it out real slow, due to a wall on one side and a 3ft. drop on the other.
    5) Then, let her rip.

I always carry a St. Christopher medallion in my wallet, and for extra protection I'll throw in a quick prayer before heading out. Seems to work so far. I also sprinkled Holy Water on the car after initial purchase to bless it and promote safe travel. Plus it works for keeping pesky vampires at bay during nighttime drives...

Nice to know I'm not the only one with a superstition! :) I even had a bell dangling under my motorcycle to keep the road demons at bay.

    1. Crank engine without touching the accelerator pedal and let idle til it runs smooth. (about 1 minute)
    2. Back out of garage into the drive, set parking brake, and let it idle while I get out and check the tires and do a quick walk around.
    3. Roll down windows, turn off radio from the last ride. (eventually turn it on again after I get used to the glorious sound of a 12 cylinder Ferrari engine with a Tubi Style exhaust)
    4. Push down on shifter and push forward to select Reverse. Back out of drive slowly so that I don't scrape the front spoiler on the street.
    5. Drive in 1st gear to end of street and keep RPM's at 2,000.
    6. Drive through the subdivision by skipping 2cd gear altogether and keeping RPM's under 3,000.
    7. By the time I hit the main road at the front of the subdivision my water temp has come up to operating temp, the radiator fans kicks on with a whir and I can now use any gear effortlessly but I still keep RPM's under 3,000.
    8. By the time I hit the first red light 5 miles away the oil temp has just started to move. I can now drive as hard as I like. But, I pull in to the gas station at that light and top off the tanks and check the oil before I do anything fun in the car. After I leave that gas station all holy heck is ready to breakout. (ie. lots of red line shifts)

    Something like this:

    1. Take off cover
    2. Check for new puddles
    3. Check tire pressures
    4. Get in and put on seat belt
5a. Turn key and check lights
5b. In the 365, wait for fuel pump clicks to slow
    6. Start car
    7. Watch oil pressure gauge
    8. Allow to idle for a minute (back out car from garage during this time)
    9. Keep revs under 4000 rpm until water temp gauge comes off the peg
    10. Keep revs under 5000 rpm until oil temp gauge comes off the peg
    11. Have fun

I do the exact same thing - except "insert 3b - I check all lug nuts.. Yea sounds anal - but I think Darth lost a tire once along with a few other F-chatters stories... I got my Lambo back from service - checked - and found a few really loose ones - could have been really really bad. (Dealer is still apologizing months later - and got a bunch of free stuff)...

Now I check them before each drive...

    Oh - I don't do 5b - I don't have a 365 :) :) - but I used to do it on my 250 GT and 330 :)

    Ritual? Uh.

    1) Realize it's been 6 months since I washed it.
    2) Realize I don't give a crap.
    3) Get in, turn on, go.

    1. Move all rear-pocket contents to front pockets (nothing sharp, like keys, to scratch seat leather, plus 328 seats are snug).

    2. Unclip celphone from belt and place it in shirt pocket, so it won't be catapulted off my belt and onto the concrete when I reverse-dive down into the 328.

    3. Always depress the clutch when engaging the starter.

    4. Enjoy! :)

Yes, but one day soon you will wake up and it will only be a dream and she will truly be awaiting you in the garage. Gotta have faith!!
