Hello. I'm looking to purchase a 328 and I would like to look at a nice example near Boston. I don't know your area of the country and sure don't have good intel. on Ferrari shops.

Can you all suggest a shop that has experience with 3x8 models who can perform a pre-purchase inspection?

By the way, here in the Chicago area, our Ferrari dealers won't do PPI's because of the "liability issue." What ever that means, I'm not sure. Sounds like fear talking, to me.

For those that are curious, the 328 I'm considering is an '88 328S on consignment w/AMNE (Waltham,MA). Asking $46k and change. Blue Chiaro/Red. I really like that color combination.

    Thanks for your interest,
    Lew

    Lew,
I have seen the car and if you like the color combination...grab the car!
AMNE just did the major on my 98 355F1, check the progress out in the 355 section, or the New England section, they are are great to deal with. I bought my first Ferrari there 14 years ago, and now with years of Ferrari experience in house you will not be disappointed. They are super honest and stand behind what theys sell and service.
There are lots of local Fcar guys using them exclusively
    Best of Luck

Thanks for the insight, Triton. I gathered by AMNE's input on FChat that they are probably a good shop with which to deal. Now, if I could just find another shop of equal reputation for an independent opinion of the car....

Dave (Fastradio here on FChat,) might do it. He owns Ferrari Service of New Bedford (fluentinferrari.com.) While he's never worked on my cars, I've seen his work and admire it greatly.

Also, IFS has a very positive reputation.

I have been getting Ferrari work done at all the shops, many times.

Hands down the best is Ferrari Of New England - they also have the best prices and they will match any price.

It is the only part of the country I know about - that u have the Ferrari factory store LESS expensive then the independents.

Plus they are great to work with - My CS will be there next week for a major.

I highly recommend Boston Sportscar in Weston, just outside of Boston. They have performed all of the services my 328, are fantastic to work with, and would be perfect for a PPI. All of the mechanics are incredibly talented and knowledgeable. I actually consider mine to be a 328 savant. Call Darin at (781) 647-7300, you will not be disappointed. ‎

I strongly agree that Dave at Ferrari of Bedford NH, John at IFS and of course, Darin at Boston Sportscar are among the best in New England...
If you like it...get the PPI done and grab it, it's a nice car...
    good luck

I also can personally attest for IFS in Easton. I was actually there yesterday picking up my 308. John has many years of experience with 308 as well just about any other Ferrari.

A little late to the party, but my recommendation would be for David @ Ferrari Service of Bedford. He is hands down the best there is - anywhere. But, Bedford, NH may be a little too far for AMNE to truck the car for a PPI. If it needed to be more local, I would recommend John Tirrell at IFS.
I would NOT recommend Boston Sportscar for anything. I, as well as several friends, have had terrible experiences with Darin and the team at BSC.

I'm surprised that no one has said this, but AMNE has a great reputation in the Ferrari community. Their tech, I believe his name is Steve, is active on here and I've seen him highly recommended many times. Although no substitute for a PPI as far as piece of mind, I would try to talk to him about the car. From what I've heard about him, he'll tell it like it is. AMNE gets some top notch cars through their doors and they're one of the few dealerships I would genuinely not have any concerns about. They're small enough to care which can't be said about all high end dealerships these days.
