Brazilian press is saying RB will put a new ICE in Max car. Thats a 5 grid penalty. If they change any other part of the drive train it could go to 10 grid penalty. What do we know so far? Any confirmation ?
That's beside the time penalties Verstappen may collect during the race if he doesn't clean up his act !!!
It's very likely Max will get a new ICE. You would want to do it during a Sprint Race weekend because of the Sprint Race points. If you're first in the Sprint Race, that's 8 points added cushioning the 5 grid spot penalty for taking a new component in the actual race......that's IF you end up P5 in the race. IF you end up P4 or better, well that's just more points added.
Joe, just to be clear at what point does the team replace the ICE--before FP1, before Sprint Qualy or after; will replacement of the ICE only affect starting position for the GP? Many thanks.
I'm glad I have been to the Brazilian GP and seen Rio and Sao Paulo (including Senna's grave). Not going back there given the crime level.
How new darker track surface could be defining factor in Brazilian GP Brazil’s resurfaced track looks set to throw up some surprises at Interlagos Formula 1 teams and tyre supplier Pirelli have arrived at this weekend’s Brazilian Grand Prix braced for a more unpredictable weekend than normal. While the track layout itself is unchanged from previous years, what is different is the asphalt – which has been completely resurfaced since last year’s event. Newly laid tracks add a huge degree of uncertainty at grands prix, as teams are never sure about the impact it can have on grip levels. At some venues in the past – perhaps most famously Turkey in 2020 – if the track has not been treated properly then it can trigger a massive drop in grip and cause huge headaches for drivers and teams. At the other end of the spectrum, a new surface that offers some decent grip but has not been rubbered in can result in cars sliding a bit more, which has a negative impact on tyre degradation. What Brazil will deliver is hard to be sure of right now, with the final answer only coming from the first practice session when drivers get to run out on track for the first time.
F1TV was schedulled to transmit a pre-race talk today, like usual, but it got removed from the schedulle? Anyone knows why?
MoneyGram Haas F1 Team can confirm that Kevin Magnussen will not compete in the São Paulo Grand Prix and Oliver Bearman will race for the team for the remainder of the weekend," the team shared.
