I'm thinking that Michael will take it out again. Bridgestone seem to have an advantage at Monaco, but the rate of getting to optimum temperature could be a problem. Also look out for Webber who is reportedly looking to be in fine form for the race. Renault seem to be the major threat to Ferrari this coming weekend.
    What do you guys think?

The only race will occur during qualifying. Simple as that. They should televise that and skip the race.

If MS does not get on the front row it will be an extremely interesting race ... and one he might not finish (ie. crash in the first corner or 2), but otherwise it is all over.

if no rain, then ferrari 1 and 3, with button in between for second.
if it rains, all bets are off, with backmarkers getting a break.
i was there in 96 and saw the devastation that a rainy track can hit the grid with - 3 cars left at the end.

Nice to see someone else may be getting a little bored with the Ferrari juggernaut. I recall Gilles V telling a reporter his prefect race was snatching pole at the last minute, pitting with a puncture, rejioning in last and fighting his way back up through the field to snatch a win on the last lap.

    The good old days.

I 'm hoping it utterly hoses with rain, like '84.

Monaco is different. Yes you can't pass, but one mistake and your game is over in the armco. So anything is possible. Hey, if Panis is capable of winning there (or Senna in a Toleman, well almost), anything is possible.

Aside from that Monaco is not just about sheer power, so other teams have a chance too. It's not even much about aerodynamics either.

Realistically I see MS on 1st, maybe Montoya on 2nd. And Alonso on 3rd.

    Should be fun.

    Forecast for this weekend:

60% chance of someone jumping the start trying to avoid getting smoked by Renault's launch control.

70% chance of someone losing a front wing at turn 1.

80% chance someone will get it all wrong exiting the tunnel.

and 100% chance that the cameras will show pretty girls in bikinis on boats (for those who thought coverage would be boring). :D

    LOL!

BTW: I read a hint in a newspaper, that Renault's launch control somehow uses the induction lines in the pavement to get the super launch they have. I just wonder how?

Are these induction lines "turned off" just miliseconds before the start and the Renault senses that and releases the clutch? Would be clever on Renault's part and stupid on FIA's.

Maybe they're just using ELINT technology to listen for the signal that turns the five lights off. ;)

Whatever they are doing it works quite well. but i doubt that they could use a sensor to detect the coils on the grid denergising since that would still fall under the scope of launch control.

Welcome back Andreas how was the European Tour ;)

The way Trulli was dancing around the question on how he got the super Barcelona start raised some eyebrows. I guess we'll see in Monaco.

The European tour was great and I saw lots of Ferrari. Will post some pics as soon as I got this all sorted out. Can't say whether the Spanish GP was the highlight or meeting with the Gumball 3000 folks.
    :)
