I have a pair of Maui Jim's that I love. I couldn't believe Ipayed so much for a pair of sunglasses but these things are great. You don't realize it until you try a different pair of glasses. The lenses are just top notch.

Who makes the best quality driving sunglasses? There is always much talk of the Serengetti glasses but it is all hype or are they really a high quality driving glass? I am not looking for the "bling" Gucci style, I want something functional for long, high-speed drives on bright days.

    Thanks

I've always liked the glass lenses in Ray-Ban and Maui Jim, but they may not be the best...

My dad has SerenGeti glasses and he likes them a lot. He complained about not seeing some computer/radio screens (they're polarized) and that the glass is a tad too small (mind you, his previous glasses were aviator style, and these are Matrix-style).
I never wear glasses (perhaps I should...) so that's all I can tell you...

I have always worn Ray Bans. Light, comfortable, and leave me with little eye strain. I just went to polarized with a recent pair I bought. I like them a lot better than standard; however, I can no longer read the speedo clearly in my corvette as it is digital. Not a big deal though, I just guess based on the tach.

I liked my serengettis but like my maui jim's much better. I love polarized glasses. I actually had the serengettis b/c another pair of polarized glasses were stolen out of my convertible and I needed to pick up something fast so I didn't worry about getting polarized.

They polarization can be annoying if you have tinted windows sometimes as it causes different effects when looking through the tint. Something to think about before buying. I got used to it and it doesnt bother me any more.

    Sunglasses question:

Will polarized sunglasses help reduce the glare (reflection off shiny black instrument cluster) on the windscreen of my 328 when I'm driving into the sun?

They should, yes. Best thing to do is to find a friend with a pair of polarized SGs and borrow them.

    Glass lens, polarized.
Any quality brand will do. The critical issue is often 'how cool do I want to look' as opposed to 'how much protection do I want'?
They are not one and the same.

Instead of having new prescription lenses made, I jude opted for a Ray Ban clip-on that attches to my Oakleys. It only ran about $20 & works fine.

I just got the Maui Jims and love them. They really cut the glare. All my good glasses did not have polarized lens, makes all the difference for me.

I swear by anything Oakley makes. I have Juliets, only problem with them though, the ear pieces are thick, so when you try to glance over it is a little harder.
