I usually am a bourbon drinker , but recently have had some Ron Zacapa 23y/o rum and Ron Barcelo Imperial rum on the rocks. Both are very good!

    Any more suggestions?

Cruzan rum single barrel is a good sipping rum. I also enjoy Appletons from Jamaica and one of my favorites is Barbancourt 5star from Haiti.

I'm happy with a simple Cruzan. Got a taste for it when I lived in St Thomas. Save the money for good Bourbon.

The Cruzan black strap is good mixed with Coke As is the single Barrel. You used to be able to get tall bottles of isingle barrel but when I was down in St Croix last month there were none to be seen even at the distillery. A few nice things while you are down there... The prices are cheaper and the bottles of Black Strap are a full liter rather than the normal 750ml size. They are also made and bottled in St Croix rather than at some state side bottler like a lot of alcohol sold in CONUS is.

While I'm posting pics of the liquor cabinet.... Down below and behind all the bottles of Cruzan single barrel are a couple of Bacardi double magnums. That's right, a three liter bottle of rum. No idea why I bought them other than I love the novelty size and they were $50 each.

Black Strap is also great as a floater for Bushwackers *grin*

Is this the drink you refer to?

    http://m.drinksmixer.com/drink1673.html

Do you float additional rum on top of the drink? Or, just what's called for in the recipe?

The big grocery store on Route 70 when you are driving from the airport to Christiansted in St Croix.... Can't rememeber the name of it but every time I'm down there I pick one up :)

That's probably not much help but I haven't seen them for sale in the continental US.

Thank you. The simple solution is, go to St Croix!

Float a dollop of Black Strap on top (in addition to what the recipe calls for).

I also like to add a spoonful of peanut butter to the mix, as well as 1-2 slices of well done bacon prior to blending. Great alternative to a Bloody Mary.

What are peoples opinions on Goslings Black Seal? Its the only Rum we keep at home now.

One of my favorite mixed drinks is a Dark and Stormy made with Goslings (no citrus or bitters please).

Actually goes great with Sushi! Who knew! haha

I've had Gosling's Black Seal. Not bad, but I prefer Maui Dark Rum & Cruzan Black Strap. Had Pyrat Rum once, a long time ago. Was OK. All the above is prejudiced by fact that Mai Tai is pretty much only way I drink rum and I like my rums as dark and molasses-y as possible....T

Zacapa is fab. I was sipping that back in early 2000's when in. Central America. I also enjoy Ron Centenario from Venezuela in the leather pouch, aged 15 years.

I know little about rum. I do remember liking 10 Cane when it first came out. I don't know if its considered premium or how it compares.

I drink loads of Rum. Buckets.
I prefer Zapaca 23 with full fat Coke. Zapaca 15 is not bad either with Coke, but the 23 is more velvety.
I was a Malt guy before I moved, but lost the taste moving here for some weird reason. I had a nice collection of Malts, but gave them away.
All except one, a 21 year old Glenfiddich in a Wedgewood bottle.
