My next Cartier, only it will be finished in 18k White Gold instead of the Stainless Steel finish pictured here:
By that argument so has Ferrari ,Lamborghini, Mercedes and most high end cars. The Day-Date once again has (never has been called "Presidential")has been around since the late 50's pretty much unchanged and the Submariner has been around for 40 years mostly unchanged . They came up with a decent design and left it alone. So some dumbasses wear one big deal , plenty of dumbasses drive Ferrari's does that make you want to not drive or own the car ?
If you want to buy Rolex, I would suggest you take a look at the Explorer II with white dial the cellini collection. Forget about the pictures, in real life most Rolex look very gaudy except for the two I mentioned. The prez is a handful and can look very ugly. However, if you are going to spend that much money, then take a look at Audemars piguet or Vacheron or Patek (in that order if value for money is a consideration). I have a few Audemars and Pateks for daily wear and like Audemars (rectangular perpetual) the best. Even more than my Pateks (3960 and 5000). Don't buy large watches, I have an IWC portugese that never gets any wrist time. Wearing it is like having an anvil tied to my wrist and not to mention the ugly bulge under the cuffs. Lastly, consider this....the watch industry has really been gouging American customers and fixing prices. I have personally stopped buying them as I consider their practices bad for our economy. They are frigging selling us 19th century technology at astronomical prices, but buy our hi-tech stuff for almost no money. FYI, the US dollar has dropped from 1$=3.5SFr to 1.25SFr since 1985. YMMV.
Jacob & CO. watches suck in my opinion. The only thing about his watches are the damn ice he encrusts in it.
You want a nice watch, then check-out Tourbillion by Cartier, Louis Vuitton, Breguet, Patek, etc. They are the flagship of watch industries. I saw Vuitton's, and they are very nice, but too expensive for me! Yoshi
Don't mean to hijack but I'd kind of like ot piggyback on this thread a little: I'm thinking about buying a Rolex Submariner 50th Anniversary. It will be my first really nice watch. Any input from anyone?
My wife gave me a stainless Rolex Daytona for my birthday last year, it is a very nice everyday watch.
I recently bought a Cartier Roadster and an Audemars Piguet with 1 carat of diamonds around the bezel, which isn't too much bling IMO. I've just never been a fan of Rolexes, however, I love AP watches. They are by far my favorite. Here is a pic of my new one. The diamonds look lousy in this pic, but in person they are very clear (F color)...
I don't mean to Hijack either, but if you are in the market for a Rolex where is the best place to buy? I saw a post that said, I think, who pays list. I thought It was difficult to get a discount on a Rolex. If it is easy please don't incinerate, I don't really have any knowledge on the subject.
Hey Jeff - Great looking watch! Rick - My car has a clock, but sometimes it runs slow. I'll get you a little clock / compass to mount to your dashboard.
