Has anybody ever dealt with prestige motors. I see that some of there cars are aggressively price. Im just trying to find out there reputation. Im interested in getting a Nissan 350z or G35 coupe, and some of there prices caught my eye. I just don't want to deal with a dealer that puts accident cars or lemons up for sale. any suggestions/ opinions would be great.

I know This is a ferrari site, but i just see that alot of the members in the canada section are form the gta.

I've never heard of them....but IMO, a car like a 350Z or G35 should be bought from a reputable dealer, (official dealership).

Don't buy any 'road rockets' from curbsiders or 'junk yard' dealerships, they buy the cheap, beat up junk ("slut-mobiles") from local sellers, and clean them up and sell them to the public.

Most Nissan 350Z's have been beat up and driven hard, so be careful!

Just speaking on my own experiences.......alot of these 'hot rods' are time bombs ready to blow up.

You should know about that..you were the one arguing about buying a $20,000 308....it just doesn't exist!

Same with the Jap-Rods.....a $15,000 350 Z is probably a piece of crap.

My Favourite acronym:::---YGWYPF-------You Get What You Pay For!

I agree with you there...no doubt. Its just you came off very harsh on the deealship side, and thought wow.

as for these little hot rods, never follow them personally, so 10k, or 25k its all Chinese to me :D:D:D

I have nothing wrong with dealerships, just the small little sh!thole shops that you find in the back of a unit, these guys have a cardboard box as a desk and a cellphone for their business line....and they're trying to sell you a $60,000 used Inifiniti G35....with no chance of service or support. These are the guys you see on CityTV and Dateline NBC all the time with the hidden cameras.

Where did this car come from? Who did it come from? A professional product should come from a professional source.....thats just my .02$

Back to the 350Z/G35. Focus on the car not necessarily the place. Do some due diligence before you buy ANYWHERE. I would start by getting the VIN # and do a carproof report (www.carproof.com). That will show you where/when the car was registered, if there are any liens (in Ontario or otherwise) and will report 99% of the insurance claims made against the car (if any). From there call the manufacturer (Nissan Canada in this case) and find out who the selling dealer was and whether any warranties are still valid (Flood cars and the like usually have their warranties voided). From there you can call the selling dealer and see if there is any service history on the vehicle. With the privacy legislation we have now you most likely can not get copies of the records but most dealers will confirm what was done for you verbally if you say you are looking at purchasing the car. After all that then talk price, because you can make the most informed decision you can.

Basically an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.

Very good post! Just to add a small detail. Be sure to also do a carfax. I think car proof is best. But I have recently found that some searches state somethings others don't. So why not do both vin searches? :)

Hey Thanks for all the replies,

I definitely will be looking in to the individual cars history (carfax). and I agree with term "you get what you pay for". i think if i buy anywhere i hope they can atlest support and service the car.

While I agree with the "you get what you pay for" and the "an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure", I don't necessarily agree with the only buying somewhere that the car can be supported/serviced. If the car is under warranty, it doesn't matter where you buy it, the only option is to service it at a dealer of the brand.

If I were you, I would plan on having the car serviced at a Nissan/Infiniti dealer regardless of where I bought it and just make sure that the car is the best example that I could afford, whether from a private seller, used car dealer or Nissan/Infiniti dealer.

One last thing: most Authorized dealers sell their own brand's used cars at a premium.

I had to do a BBB search on a company and recalled your post...so did a search...it seems they have had some "issues" some resolved...and some not...

I guess it boils down to buyer beware as always...I have friends who have got some great deals from this type of car lot...and others that are still full of regret.

Good luck with the Nissan search !!

yeap - although they do get first pick of the cream-puffs with the trade-ins, letting the rest go to auction or hock to the competition

    Hmmm.

"You get what you pay for"? So, if I pay more for a car, I am getting a better car, from a better dealer? No thanks. Nothing beats good research, knowing your product, and knowing the market. If you want a car that is guaranteed to not cost you a bundle in repairs, you are best to buy a car with a warranty. If a car is out of warranty, it doesn't matter where you buy it. You are taking some risk.

And if you have "never heard of" a dealership before, how can you slag them?

I disagree, I have opened my own place in a unit although I do have a real desk made of wood a office, cell and fax line wireless internet, 2 430's,a testarossa,328,clk430,m5,continental gt and aston vantage right,c4 cab, cayenne turbo etc,
Why does it matter that its not a big multi-million dollar showroom on steeles or somewhere? my cars are the same cars as everywhere else with the same warranties as the cars at the big dealerships, not sure about everyone but my clients are low-key guys that want to buy their car get-in and get out without, freight, pdi and every other bull**** chardge the dealer will get you for. In regards to the service part I would have to agree with you, although I do not offer service i can arrange shipping to a reputable mechanic etc. The people you have to watch out for can barley speak a lick of english don't look you in the eye and push the deal.

James, in no way am I trying to discredit anyone's "entrepreunrial spirit", from what I've heard of you and your business, you have a great name and make great deals to satisfied customers. And as you said, you can provide service/mechanic at anytime, and because you have been in the business for a few years, you have well-established connections within the industry. (Which is very important!)

I am only ranting about the curbsiders or wannabe luxury car dealers who can't even spell 'Mercedes-Benz' properly on the invoice, and operate a landscaping business out of the same office and phone #. And when your MB needs service, these 'dealers' will refer you to their brother-in law who works on Honda's and VW's at most. Myself and friends have come in contact with these people numerous times, and it scares me to think people are giving $65,000 of their hard earned money to these bums.

What I was meaning was the opposite, Just because a car may seem underpriced don't assume it is a clunker, Likewise don't expect the most expensive to be the best. I guess my general point was don't focus on price until you know the car is worth talking about, and in that regard trust you own research first not just what you are told. I know for most of us this is common knowledge but I am still surprised how many people are lured by the promise of a good "deal". They are out there, you just have to be sure.

So, you believe everything you hear? And then repeat it? Wouldn't that be the formal definition of "gossip"?

My rule of thumb is that unless I am certain about a company/dealer, I never even comment on them. Otherwise, you are just spreading gossip. I have no experience with Prestige, so I cannot comment on them.

I never made any bad comments about them, I'm only saying to beware of 'shady' dealers. (No names mentioned)
