now, i like all of the (admittedly lovely) cars above better in hardtop form.

the xke coupe in original form is for me one of the best designs ever.

Are the wheels and tires of that BB photoshopped to be low profile or are they custom? Looks cool.

Germans don't do 'pretty'. Even the 300SL, which is way ahead of the 911, IMO, has a sort of 'Teutonic beauty' to it rather than the pure poetry of a Ferrari 250 GT.

Very nice, although I think the original roadster (Series I) is even better.

Yes, Jay Kay's Maserati A6G Frua is very nice.

My list would include many of those already mentioned, especially the Lamborghini Miura SV and Aston Martin DB4GTZ.

Some other personal favorites that I don't believe have been mentioned: Maserati A6 GCS, Maybach SW38 Spohn Sport Roadster, 1964 Corvette Roadster (no side pipes please), Duesenberg J Murphy Berline, Maserati 450S Costin-Zagato coupe.

as was mentioned before the idea of beauty [or prettyosity] must go beyond the skin....the type 35B bugatti for me does indeed work at all levels from individual parts, component assemblies up to and including the rolling chassis that will not only run without bodywork but needs no body to be a work of art all by itself.

try to imagine any car that you can pull the front axle off and it stands alone as sculpture yet when installed on the car blends seamlessly into the whole....

right down to the bugatti designed, wonderfully architectural nuts and bolts, the car is a study in integrated design that stimulates the intellect as well as the emotions.

so i'm biased, but of all the cars i've had the GP bug is the one i can spend an afternoon enjoying visually and not even start it.[it also sounds and smells wonderful]
