http://www.ferrariofsandiego.com/used-San+Diego-2003-Ferrari-360-Base-zffyu51a330132848 Drove today, drives great. Looks and sounds clean. Only options are challenge grill and seat piping. 16,800 miles. 19" wheels, fenders rolled back. He's asking $88K. Cheers.
Looks pretty nice. A red/tan 360 stick, it likely won't last long. Maybe a few grand in play with the price. How long has it been there? I assume the belts are up to date and the clutch is ok?
DO A PPI OUTSIDE OF DEALER!! DO A PPI OUTSIDE OF DEALER!! DO A PPI OUTSIDE OF DEALER!! DO A PPI OUTSIDE OF DEALER!! DO A PPI OUTSIDE OF DEALER!! DO A PPI OUTSIDE OF DEALER!! DO A PPI OUTSIDE OF DEALER!!
SD Ferrari said they didn't want to do an outside PPI, that they only trust their mechanics. I know that's supposed to be a warning sign....
Not necessarily. Many Fcar dealers don't want the cars leaving for outside PPI's. By the way, do they own it or is it a consignment?
+ 1. Have heard that all Fcar dealers in California will not allow an independent PPI. That applies to owned cars as well as consigned cars.
Dealers with nice red/tan stick cars are very difficult to deal with. I tried on a few 360 spider sticks and got nowhere fast. These cars sell themselves. Would they consider a PPI from another southern California authorized dealer of your choice?
Since its at an authorized dealer, just have their mechanic (with you standing next to them) do a full inspection like they would do if they were buying it from you. Lift to inspect, compression check, SD2 readout, go over service records. I will say price seems $5-7k high but not stupid high
They agreed to put it up with their mechanic and I can bring another. I can ask about compression. Agreed, price seems $5K or so high for these options.
What about getting it Ferrari certified? May not be the same as a PPI, but it may reveal any issues which are out of spec. Did they do a compression test they can show you the paperwork for? I think having a mechanic look at it just on a lift is not enough. I don't know this authorized dealer from Adam, but most authorized dealers are not going to sell junk cars. Thus, while the car may have a few minor issues that you and the dealer don't know about, I doubt there is anything major wrong or it would not be offered for sale. Have they given you the Ferrari internal computer printout of all work the car has ever had at an authorized dealer? Also, if they serviced the car all or most of its life they should be able to printout all of the records.
No compression since 2009 in Texas, fine then. Most of life in TX and NV, not this SD dealer. Requested records. Thanks!
Daytona seats can easily be added as they are inserts only. There is a guy in Jacksonville that can do it, also I understand there is a guy in Phili too that can do it. The black piping is nice. It is shieldless but those can be added with the yoshields. I personally like factory indented shields myself. But I would consider those to a non-shield car. What other options do you need?
It is still 4:15 PST, can they run the internal Ferrari service and campaign history. Then get on the horn first thing Monday morning with those service shops if you have any questions since this report is not that detailed but general, and those places will know the exact work done down to the fluid used, etc.
Personally, I think it makes no difference if you buy from a Ferrari dealership or any other dealership. Most upstanding dealers (Ferrari or otherwise) are not going to sell you a car with known issues. It's the unknown issues and the risk you take buying used cars. There are plenty of stories here where people have bought Ferraris from Ferrari dealers and have even gotten the extended warranty, but still had major issues which weren't covered. As said in above, the service records are key if they have them.
Absolutely gorgeous! Aren't those Challenge Wheels? That alone adds $3k to the price! Let the dealer give you their PPI results since they are a Ferrari dealership. If it looks good...buy it! There just aren't many Red/Tan 6 speeds out there! It will hold it's value just fine!~
Sweet but about 8-10 too HIGH! The spread between what they gave the owner and what youre goona give em is. HUGE!
I bought mine without a PPI from FoW and had an issue which they helped me resolve. One of the benefits of buying from a dealer. Perhaps you include certain conditions in the sale and have them provide you a 30 day warranty.
That may be fine, but it appears this guy lives in AZ and not southern CA, thus that may be tricky as a dealer would obviously like to fix on their own at their own internal prices of parts and labor versus some other dealer sending them a bill.
Mario and his crew at Ferrari SD are exceptional. Bill Story Jr who is a sales person there is the OWNERS son. I bet you are working with Bill.... Anyway, great guys and I wouldn't worry about doing business with them.
Lol-see ya-thnx but no thnx. Official ferrari dealer is exactly the ones to watch out for-BELIEVE ME!!!
