What would you pay for a 2k mile 94 512 that had the major service done and has a new pair of shoes ? Color yellow/black ? Has a two owner history.

Get a car with some miles on it. That thing has only gone 200 miles/year.

A 512tr with 12 to 17k is going to bring around 100k. one with 2k their going to want around 115 to 120k. Internationalmotorcars.com has a black/tan with 6k and their asking 124k. I think thats a little steep.
Also I agree with Judge4re in purchasing a higher mileage car.
Having the car static too much can cause a host of problems , one of which the cam belts can take a "set", injector problems etc.etc.

    I'm sure it's pristine though.

When I bought my 90 tr it had 1600 miles and no major service. The front brakes were rotten from sitting and had tro be replaced. I also put on new tires. This car has the major and new tires and my mistake a tubi. I do like the perfect paint and interior. If posible I would have Ferrari build me one today brand new. I'll bet more people would also like a mid engine sexy looking car. The 612 is probably a great car but not what I expected in the looks department.
There in no way to know what has happened to the car just sitting which I agree is not good but then the trade off is a near new cosmeticsl The seller was firm of 127k but maybe there is some room. I will not pay that much. I got a line on a red tan 5k car for maybe tops 110 with a tubi and service. I just wanted yellow.

I bought my TR with 2k miles. I love the brand new look.

I think 127k is kind of silly though. $115k I could live with.

    For 127, I would spend a few extra bucks & get a 512M.

    Yellow/black rocks!

Keep working on him! You're not to far away!

Negotiate against unforeseen repair costs once it goes into use..........split the difference!

I agree the cosmetics are harder to fix than the mechanicals!

Keep him hooked up! Reel, man reel!

Also, agree once your past $120K, you are into 512M range...almost!

Not true. I have put 3,000 miles on my tr in the 6 months I have owned it. It now has 5,500 miles on it. It does not leak a drop of oil - Not a drop. My 328 had more miles on it & dropped oil before the major & before the new owner fixed the leak from the shift shaft seal.

The M's I have seen advertised were asking $140 - $150. Sign me up for $115!

I suck at negotiating, so $165 and I can get one, lol.

    Robert,

I saw that car this summer when it was at Ferrari of Long Island. I love the 512TR, and especially in yellow.

That car, despite what everyone says, is not "perfect"--at least not physically. I looked over the car when I was there and saw several imperfections in the paint. This may not matter to you, but they are there.

My memory is poor, so I don't remember all of them; but there are imperfections on the sloping panel that separates the windshield from the driver window (the windshield frame, you might call it); and the paint on the engine decklid showed some imperfections. And I am NOT a body man: I have about one-tenth the ability of a body man to detect paintwork/imperfections.

Ever notice that every single Ferrari in the world is "perfect," "outstanding example," or "pristine?"

    Nonsense.

This may be a great car, but I wondered why those were there on a car that had just 1800 miles on it.

If these are just imperfections from the factory, which everyone of course wants you to believe, then I say pay $115 for the car with the major service included. They can whistle dixie if they want $130! They'll sit on the car for 10 years if they ask want much. It's a garage queen, and who knows if the damn thing actually runs?

If the asking price is $140, you could probably get 5% off easily which drops it down close to $130 even. I'm saying you may be able to buy an M with miles on it for $115 with some negotiating

    Robert,

I wonder what the guy with the yellow 512TR will say to you if you tell him what you've heard about the car... again, the car may be desirable, so this may be a way to chop down the price a bit.

Like every other Ferrari salesman, he'd probably say "I checked the car and couldn't verify what you were talking about."

But maybe he'd have a more useful response...

I have looked at this car before and can't figure the high price. Even 5 years ago this was a high price. When I bought my 90tr in 97 , these cars were avg. in the 125 range.

I bought a perfect 92 with a warranty from FoA on the engine. But the negotiations were about market price, which I think I paid. If the seller is a conditional one, as in: " if I can get what I want for my 512, then I will buy a ....", you are not dealing with a willing seller and unless you think you are offsetting the lack of warranty on a garage queen by its low use, you should not pay a dime over 115-120. After that its your degree of gotta have it that takes over.

Market is stable for good cars, but ists still falling for the neglected.

Well I guess at this point you are going to have to be patient because one of two things are going to happen. 1) one of these guys will lower their price and you get to buy your dream car for you what you think it is worth or 2) the cars get sold for something near their asking price and you now know for sure what they were worth. Low mileage, no stories, 512TR & 512M are getting very difficult to locate just because of low production numbers and time. I waited a long time to locate a "92 red/tan 512TR 4K mile one owner car from Hawaii one year ago that had never had any service. By the time I did tires, a major service++ I was into the car for just under $100K and was very happy with the price and still am. Good luck, you will be very happy with the car when you find it.
