Anyone know the current pricing (USD) for a converted daytona coupe. There seems to be a nice 1971 Daytona coupe that was converted to a spyder in 1990 by Straman at Silicon Valley Motorcars. I have been looking for a Daytona Coupe, since the spyders are out of price range, but this seems like a good compromise. What is their value in the long run versus an untouched coupe?
Check out the car anyone know it.

Well done conversions trade at about the same prices as similar condition unmolested coupes.

IMO in the long run an original coupe will be worth signif more than a converted spider...

For me, I'd go for the original coupe... IMO, their isn't much difference philosophically in converting a daytona coupe to a spider, than there is in rebodying a 250GTE to a 250GTO or TR. I don't want to answer the "is it real questions..."

Same price, coupes are better, the question will get old.

That having been said, get the one you want. You will love either.

There's a RHD straman thats been for sale a long time for AUS. $ 495,000 but has only done 5000 miles. http://www.classiccarsforsale.co.uk/classic-car-page.php/carno/11123

i would think based on uk cars between $200,000 and $400,000 may be cheaper as there were alot more LHD than RHD.

Make sure you get some one to check it over for you as you could spend big money putiing it right, and go with your heart on the coupe/Spyder choice as you will regret it if you don't.

I was right where you are now in 1998, i was looking for a daytona coupe heard the spyder conversions could be had for the same money!HA i looked for the best, comparing equal condition cars the converted cars were always about $25k more some times $40k(Mel Blanc's black /tan conversion showing approx 2400 miles since complete high quality resto)( and that was when a RESTORED to DEATH coupe was $125K! NICE COUPE DRIVERS needing nothing were $90 to $100!) i bought a coupe rebodied to a spyder using all new scag. spyder body panels purchased thru ferrari. I KNOW, I KNOW DON'T CRUCIFY ME ON THIS, but the car was crashed and then what was left of the body was destroyed by a fire while in the body shop being repaired ( burned off the roof and distorted the body panels i was told so nothing left to 'cut')it had a nut and bolt resto, same old story several previous owners threw way too much money at it, i was the final buyer when the car had under 300 miles on it, spent 10k sorting and now have a great Fresh car. anyway i have had it since april of 99, don't get me wrong I LOVE A COUPE but i love driving in an open car more ESPECIALY THE DAYTONA..buy what you want you will love either one and don't be put off by what others say, i can't tell you how many coupe owners have come up to me at ' concorso' wanting to know how they make their coupe into a spyder!! if you want more info on looking for one PM me , half the fun is 'THE HUNT'

THAT'S $429,000 IN US DOLLARS. most importantly what has been done to this car as far as rebuilds? these cars like a $10,000 bill at a time for defered maintenance( and believe me there is plenty of that, and for $10k you don't get much!) and often multples of that! BUY THE BEST CRY ONCE! A FRESH CAR IS THE WAY TO GO. Chuck.... anybody know what they're asking for the car at silicon valley?
